Following the news that Peter Morgan will be co-scripting the next Bond film, it seems only logical that one of his regular alumni might turn up…

The current rumour is that Michael Sheen, who impressed in ‘The Queen’ and stood up to Frank Langella’s tour-de-force in ‘Frost/Nixon’, will be playing Blofeld in the next James Bond outing. Yes, THE Blofeld. The cat stroking bald loon who was head of SPECTRE.

Except… this story originates from the Daily Express, which isn’t a reliable movie news source. And the rights to the Blofeld character are tied up in a way that makes us think if he were to be anything, he’d be a Blofeld-like character at the top of QUANTUM (the modern equivalent of SPECTRE).

If he’s involved as a villain in any way it would be a good move. Michael Sheen has proved himself one of the finest British actors of his generation. I hope there is some truth to it.
