Producer Frank Marshall has revealed that Indy 5 is in active development, and says the project will go ahead providing they find a script everyone’s happy with.

“It’s really about the script. Once we see that, we’ll see. We’re not going to wait another 20 years. We’d all love to make another one. I’m anxious to hear the idea! We had a great time making the last one and, as Harrison said, we need to make this one soon. We’re not getting any younger.”

This comes after Shia La Beouf told the BBC that Spielberg had just “cracked the story”.

I’m a little surprised they are pursuing a fifth movie. There was a lot of sequel talk prior to the release of Crystal Skull, not so much after… And now that Dr Jones is a bona fide family man the dynamic of the series is altered considerably, even moreso than Ford’s advancing age and the change in period setting. Whatever the eventual idea, hopefully aliens and computer graphics won’t play a role in this new instalment.
