Pineapple Express 2 – Sequel Plans

pineapple express 2 sequel plans

Co-writer and star Seth Rogen has said the door is very much open to a Pineapple Express 2, where it was closed to a Superbad sequel.

“[Pineapple Express] is not a precious coming-of-age story like Superbad, it’s a weed action-movie and if it did well, and they gave us like $50 million dollars (as opposed to the $26M we got for this one) we could benefit from that.”

And when James Franco was asked recently how he saw the sequel happening, he claimed the studio has actually been discussing doing it as a crossover movie…

with Superbad.

In other words, like Marvel’s Avengers or Kevin Smith’s movies, the comic characters from Judd Apatow’s films would all inhabit the same universe.

“Even before Superbad came out, I think the studio was trying to get [Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg] to write a sequel, but they really didn’t want to,” said Franco. “So, an answer to that was to do a Superbad/Pineapple Express crossover, an unprecedented crossover movie with two directors, Greg Motolla and David Gordon Green, each directing half of the movie.”

Sounds like madness …or does it?

Franco himself believes it should start with his character selling the kids a substance, then it would all kick off from there. And as Rogen plays characters in both films, Franco thinks one of them would have to be “killed off”.

Would you like to see a Pineapple Express 2, and what do you think of combining it with the world of Superbad?

I would like to see it actually.. I have heard a lot of buzz surrounding this film. Combining it with Superbad could be a “bad” move but we just have to wait and see.

sounds like a plan!!! i could definitely see that crossover idea a success!!!!

Which Rogen charactrcter should be killed off? I like his cop from Superbad more than Dale in PE but I think they would be more likely to kill off the cop. At least we would still have Bill Hader.

  • Sheena said:

I believe the one who should be “killed off” would be Seth Rogen’s cop character in ‘Superbad’ As Dale in Pineapple Express, he was one of the two lead actors. Whereas in Superbad, he wasn’t the main character.

I think it would be pretty cool if they made a crossover movie. If you started it how James Franco said I think it would be a good idea. And I would probably kill of the cop cause Dale Denton is a main character not a supporting one. Plus if you kill of the cop you could have Bill Hader’s character become obsessed with the Dale, the officer Michaels look-a-like.

I think that you should make it about them having to come up with the money to save there friend Red, like the doctor bills and have to sell Pot to make money and mix it with a crossover with Half baked! I think that would be better, because I didn’t think that Pineapple Express and Superbad would go good together because one is based in high school, so there is a different world to Superbad than Pineapple Express, although I loved both, I don’t think that those two would be a good crossover!I think Half Baked And Pineapple Express would be a good crossover though!

it would atleast be original, different from the usual sequel

T.Ross, what are you doing outside the forum?

i would l love to see these two movies together and it would work out with either character dying, Officer Michaels because of all the corrupt police and Dale denton meeting Seth and Evan before they go to college, or just have dale die because of how funny Michaels was. either way it will still be funny.

I like both movies the way they are.
After seeing Seth in knocked up I knew I had found my favourite actor. Also Jonah Hill being a riot in Superbad.
I really would not like to see a mix of the two but if I can get a little bit of a “superbad 2″ and “pineapple express 2″ that would be ideal, but then again I like pineapple express the way it was; I only wish Seth would come to the fact that people love both movies and that a superbad 2 will bring bank in the box office.

  • Robert Howington said:

    Have it combined.
Have Officer Michaels be Dale Dentons twin brother from another state which dale and saul his grandmother and red had to move after everything tha happened. They move to the town whwere the superbad bunch is going to college. Since seth wasnt accepted to the college where Evan and Foggel are going make him come see them on srping break. They are looking for some weed and heard about this guy who would give them some good stuff.

This could be one of the funniest movies ever! LOL I could just write more and more the more i think about it.
