Leave the combination you think they’ll pick in the comments, and we’ll give a prize to one reader who gets it right when the movie is released. Update June 2011: We now know it’ll be Bane and Catwoman with a touch of Ra’s al Ghul, but who else is going to make a cameo? The winner will be the one who gets closest on all fronts, with an obvious advantage to anyone who guessed Bane and Catwoman before they were announced (if anyone did…).

Alright, if ther is one thing know about christopher nolan, it’s that he goes for realistic characters which narrows it down big time. I would have to say black mask and mr. zsasz considering they’ve basically been setting up for those to. I’f you pay attention they mention mr. zsasz in the first movie and even have an actor for him.
Catwoman may be more of sidekick than a villain…I think it is rather a great idea. Batman needs it on all levels, this could work out well ni the movie.
IF THEY BRING IN THE RIDDLER THEY SHOULD BRIG BACK JIM CAREY THAT WOULD BE AWWSOME HE DID IT GOOD THE FIRST TIME WHY NOT THE SECOUND
Imo, I do not think joker will be played as good as heath ledger played him first of all, that was brilliant acting! However I do believe he will be back. Harvey dent aka two face is a definite return for me, and lastly, and I don’t believe I read anyone else say this, THE Scarecrow! If you recall in the dark knight, he was one of the jokers henchman from the asylum. There’s my 3 picks
Nolan already said Dent is dead, because the actor arron ekart tried to get back into the movie, but there was no position for him to take seeing as Two Face is dead. I know it sucks, he did an awesome two face.
Nolan will not bring the joker back. We might hear him referenced but I dont think Nolan is disrespectful enough to have someone assume the role that essentially killed heath.
Yes the scarecrow is still in the 3rd one, but I think his role will not be more than a henchman, like you said.
So Sheridan, did anyone guess the right combination?
I haven’t been through the comments again yet, I don’t remember seeing the Bane/Catwoman combo (it is an odd one), but I will check.
The competition is not over until the movie comes out as there could easily be another villain in a small role that we don’t know about yet.
So people are still free to guess which other villains might turn up. If no one has got it right before, the prize will go to whoever guesses any smaller villain roles now.

they killed joker off in the original movie . and have said they dont want to use him in the next movie cause of ledger so i think that he may if anything just be mentioned in the next movie but im hoping for the riddler poison ivy or maby penguin
Shane, i saw Thom say they’ve already announced it, but i haven’t heard who is the villain yet? am i the only one who doesn’t know!?

Ha, I don’t mind being Shane, as long as it’s a good book.
They have announced the two main villains -
They are Bane and Catwoman.
BUT this competition is not over until all the villains/villain cameos are known. So really, not until the movie is out. So you can still guess away who else may appear in smaller roles.
bit of a screw up on my part. i put too much detail into my guess. it still sounds good, tho. look at page 117, its near the middle. its kinda lenghty but still would be cool. oh and yeh, shane is about a kickass gunslinger, so yeh. its good.
so its bane, mayb catwoman, and who else? theres so much stuff going on for other stuff it doesnt make sense, so many people ar saying so many different things. and some of these guesses, no offense guys, are ridiculous. mine at least has some thinking put into. read it. itll make u wish id written the movie. but yeh, whos who!?!?
Well, folks … lets not talk about speculations any more … confirmed villains for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.
Anne Hathaway is Selina Kyle but will she be CATWOMAN in “The Dark Knight Rises?”
Tom Hardy is BANE.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a confirmed actor in “The Dark Knight Rises” but will he play Dr. Edward Nygma a.k.a. THE RIDDLER?
… and THE JOKER?
Will he make a small appearance at the end of the film in ARKHAM ASYLUM where Dr. Harleen Quinzel a.k.a. HARLEY QUINN treats him?
With her soon-to-be girlfriend and partner in crime Dr. Pamela Isley a.k.a. POSION IVY make appearance too?
It’s a way to introduce the next villains for Batman 4, THE JOKER, HARLEY QUINN and POSION IVY and the introduction of Bruce Wayne’s ward, Dick Grayson as ROBIN: The Boy Wonder and Barbara Gordon as BATGIRLl too.
To have all three villains wreck havoc on Gotham City! That would be awesome trio of a film!
Then to introduce THE PENGUIN and CLAY-FACE at the end of the film for Batman 5.
i think the next batman villans should be catwoman bane and the black masked ecspecialy catwoman because i think there love hate relationship will b very interesting
and i also think that poisin ivy and the penguin should both show up breifly as well
Well, I do not know if anyone else finds this as ironic as I do:
In the Michal Keaton version of Batman, they kill off the joker. Batman Begins is a reboot to the series because they regret killing the joker off, so this time…the actor that PLAYED the joker dies, after an act that will be pretty much impossible to follow!
In theory, it CAN be done, but it depends on how the studio does it.
Take the Harry Potter films for instance (I can see and hear a lot of eye rolling, and groaning at this point). The first two movies were well done…IMHO the third only failed because Richard Harris (the one who played Dumbledore)had died, and rather than get a GOOD voice actor, and trying to DIGITALLY insert him, they got someone who also IMHO…fell a couple miles short of the defining character.
To keep the Joker around, 3 things need to be preserved:
1) How he looks
2) How he sounds (You can probably find someone to be a voice double easily enough)
3) How he acts.
Anything short of a way to preserve all three things, will leave everyone who goes to see the film, with the unmistakable feeling that something is wrong, or missing…
That said, I am all for other villeins. and as such here are my comments regarding them, based only on the ones I know of:

We need a good portrayal of Bane, to eradicate the horrible image implanted by “Batman & Robin”. Lets face it, all 3 villeins from that movie need new images, after that travesty.

I do not know much (if any) if his story, so cannot comment.
[[CATWOMAN]]
This could be pulled off, but I am guessing they will not do this one too quickly. Joker was done for Dark Knight because they wanted to be able to use him again, after making the mistake of killing him when Jack Nickleson played the role. But I believe the intent is to give other villains a shot at the big screen that have never been there before.

I would like to see how this could be done in the new Batman series…but get the feeling that it will be avoided, because it would be too much like Terminator 2, though I would like to see the story they use to pull it off, if they ever do. Also see Man Bat

This would be fun to see, but I am not sure if they will be going into the whole Genetic Mutation bit…at least not in this way. This is just a guess

I am not sure if she should be classified as a villain or not, but it would be nice to see this role done. I believe it would fit the “dark” image very well, if done right.

I would LOVE to see a DARK Riddler (something that fits the mood of this series), but am sure this one will be delayed so for the same reason Catwoman would be…that, and it will be too close to the Joker.

What about the scarecrow? We only got a short view of him in the movie so why not bring him fully into the picture. Then I would think a bit about Mr. Freeze….he seemed to always be giving out some blows. Are we even gonna get a Robin though? Hard for batman to battle so many villians with no side kick. I would love to see them all that you have mentiones with the ones I have mentioned. But like someone said can’t cram them all into one movie.
