The trailer for post-Afghanistan drama ‘Brothers’ has hit the intertubes and has the one time rivals for the Spider-Man role now battling it out for Natalie Portman’s hand.
When young soldier Sam (Tobey Maguire) is shot down and classed MIA in Afghanistan, his drifter brother Tommy (Jake Gyllenhaal) steps in to take care of his children and wife Grace (Natalie Portman). One thing leads to another and before you can say, ‘Dude, that’s kinda wrong’, Tommy and Grace and going at it like teenagers. Unfortunately, Sam is rescued by the military and comes back home.
So yeah, it’s the love plot from Michael Bay’s Pearl Harbor, with Tobey Maguire taking on the Ben Affleck role. Only this time there’s a bit more American History X-style-standing-in-front-of-the-house-waving-a-gun-around drama.
Brothers is directed by Jim Sheridan (My Left Foot, In the Name of the Father, er, Get Rich or Die Tryin’) and is released on 4th December 2009.

looks pretty tense stuff. Maguire looking especially rough and scary
seems intense. I like portman. Hopefully the right thing will happen at the end of the movie.
It’s a remake of a danish movie called “brodre”. And doesn’t Toby remind you of Travis from Taxi Driver?
He does, it looks like a menacing performance. Did you see the original film? Was it any good? Were there any plot twists that aren’t in this trailer?
