Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 – Sequel Plans

A year on from the open end of the last installment, what condition is Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 in?
Money talks in Hollywood, and Pirates is the most profitable film series lying dormant right now. The trilogy has so far made $2.79 billion worldwide, with parts 2 and 3 both among the top five biggest grossing movies of all time. Every other franchise at the top is still active, working on churning out new movies or TV shows. So don’t expect Pirates to lie dormant much longer.

One of the writers said last year “It’s like the fourth Indiana Jones picture – there are forces in play to make it happen, and forces in play to make it not happen. I think we will try to write a screenplay.”
What is that screenplay likely to contain? Expect a journey to the ‘Fountain Of Youth’. Why? At the close of ‘World’s End’ Jack Sparrow was seen studying a map to that very spring:

(‘Aqua de Vita’ is the water of life which flows from the Fountain Of Youth)
And it’s a strong story direction to go in. Unless National Treasure 3 is made first – because that’s rumoured to have the same idea behind it.
Keira Knightley has said she doesn’t want to appear in another Pirates Of The Caribbean movie. Orlando Bloom’s career needs Pirates much more than Knightley’s does. But you can’t lose one character and keep the other. If she’s jumping ship, you can bet he will be written out too.
Johnny Depp, on the other hand, has said he loves playing Jack Sparrow and would gladly return if the script was right. “I feel there is a lot more territory to explore with Captain Jack. I’ve never really felt I’m done with playing the character, so why shouldn’t we try a fourth and a fifth?”
This reshaping of the cast is backed up by an established Disney insider. He reports that the current thinking at the studio is that Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 will “toss the Elizabeth and Will characters over the side in favour of doing a bawdy buddy picture which would star Jack Sparrow and Barbossa. Where both captains of the Black Pearl would initially be competing for the exact same prize. Eventually, all the double crossing would have to stop as these two rivals were then forced to join forces in order to defeat some supernatural terror.”
An AintItCool spy claims Disney are considering a 2011 release date.
So would you want to see a Pirates Of The Caribbean 4? Which characters would you keep/get rid of? Is the Fountain Of Youth the best plot to go with, or would you have something else?

Barbossa rocks. He has to stay.
I liked Jack and Will as buddies. What about a threesome??
Is that an offer?
If they’re going to do a POTC 4, then lose Knightley! The whole trilogy was an excuse to lust over Depp and Bloom anyway, so she will not be missed.
Liking the idea of a Depp and Bloom sandwich. Disney, make a note!
POTC 4 needs 2 have every 1 no mater what
I want a fourth movie as soon as possible, and this FoY story would be very good! But without Keira and Orlando the PotC won’t be the same! So PotC needs all of the crew!
IT WON’T BE THE SAME WITHOUT WILL & ELIZABETH! THEY HAVE TO BE IN THE 4TH MOVIE!!
i think that all the characters should stay. pirates of the caribbean would not be the same movie if 1 or the other leaves.
I think that it wont matter if they are in it or not. The story could be good if it went either way. Keira would be looking for the fountain of youth so she can stay with Will and not grow old, or, it might just be better without them. The begining story was about how they got together in the first place – the forbidden love etc… I like the idea of a potc4 and i cant wait, but i am glad they are lleaving it a little while because you dont want another flop like indiana jones… what was that all about. Take your time and get it right. Dont rush it. we want a brilliant 4th.
P.s I would love a johnny depp and orlando sandwich too hahaha
first of all, the fountain of youth, EXLLENENT IDEA!!!!!
second thing, Elizabeth and Will gone, THANK GOD FOR THAT!!! because they betrayed Jack and others just for the Black Pearl.
and I wish the movie was out in 2010.
and the best news is that Johnny Depp and Mr Rush (Don’t mind me I never get his first name right) are back!!
one more thing. WHO ON EARTH IS PLAYING AS BLACKBEARD?!?!?!
Let Will and Elizabeth walk the plank! Their plotline is done. Time for a new romantic subplot! How about Capt. Jack getting some action for a change
I agree with Chrissy. I’d love to see Jack have some romance.
I think its ok if Elizabeth and Will are gone. What all three movies needed was more Jack! Geoffrey Rush is awesome and I think that the actors with the Barbossa and Sparrow characters have great chemistry
I would definitely want to see Gibbs, Marty, Pintel and Ragetti and Cotton back – It would be great if they brought back Ana Maria from the first movie. There are limitless possibilities, I’m just so glad we’ll be getting another onee!
Fountain of youth? No Will and Elizabeth? This movie is gonna be awfully terrible. Not to mention that the idea of stealing another’s story (yap, the fountain of youth) is really uncreative. I bet there were and there will be many movies that are using that story. And this will make pirates 4 even more uncreative.
The only person that they couldnt replace in the film is mr depp imo
Keep one, keep all. Yes, the Johnny Orlando sandwich is awesome, but that’s like having a brownie without milk, you have to have Knightly in it. Otherwise, the plot is too cut and dry, she adds a bit of sexuality to it, a little wit to Jonny’s humor, and who wouldn’t want to find out what happens when Mr. & Mrs. Turner get back together, or more importantly, how? Will they stay together? Will he find another? Will Jack keep trying to get to Elizebeth? Too many questions if you cut her out. Come on Keira, just one more, you get to have some lip action with the most beautiful man to grace the screen!
