Alice In Wonderland Trailer

Alice In Wonderland Trailer - A Disappointment?
The first Alice In Wonderland trailer has hit the internet. The teaser gives us a look at almost all the major characters in action including Alice, The Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp), the White Queen (Anne Hathaway), the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter), Tweedledee & Tweedledum (Little Britain’s Matt Lucas), the White Rabbit (Michael Sheen) and the floating Cheshire Cat (Stephen Fry).

Expectations are high and it’s a decent enough trailer but it does present a couple of nagging concerns. While the world should look strange, it shouldn’t look artificial, and it looks like it’s overusing cgi. Some creatures seem like something out of a 3D animation like Ice Age and some backgrounds look distinctly Speed Racer.

It also seems odd that an Alice In Wonderland trailer would be so focused on The Mad Hatter. It’s the result of Johnny Depp star-power, but I hope the character hasn’t been given more screen time in the movie than serves the story just because it’s him.

Personally I thought Depp disappointed as Willy Wonka and my first impression here is not ‘wow he’s perfect’. If you missed him, Crispen Glover is in the trailer too as the Knave of Hearts -

I don’t have any doubt that Alice In Wonderland will do extremely well at the box office when it’s released next March, judging by the number of queries we’re already getting from readers. I just wish the trailer was a little bit better…

The fact that they focused so much on Johnny Depp frustrated me to no end.

It is a bit of an odd teaser. You do expect it to be called “Pirates of Wonderland” or “The Johnny Depp Show” with the amount of build up he gets. Perhaps they are going to do a teaser for each of the characters and this is the only one that leaked?

i just think the queen and teedle dum and treedle dee look stupid cuz of there big heads. now i think they are gonna do a character thing with one for the mad hatter one for alice one for everybody. that would make more sense. i will be terribly dissapointed if this movie doesent go well cuz this is my FAVORITE disney movie and i would like more good stuff. i wanna also read the books that started alice in wonderland and see how they are. but i think this looks pretty good..

…………UMM……well it really did over do it on the CGI and why was it so focused on Johnny Depp? I like Tim Burton cos brought us A nightmare before christmas and Edward Siscor hands…but this….well not the best.

Didn’t see the trailer, but really enjoyed the movie. It is definitely a departure from the traditional view of Alice as a kids story. Although Johnny Depp is rather annoying at first, he grows on you as his character emerges. Don’t go expecting the Disney story, this is set in Alice’s young adulthood, and definitely caters for older audiences.

It is worth a watch, but don’t go in with preconceptions, because you won’t get what you expect.
