The Dark Knight Returns… Just In Time For The Oscars

The Dark Knight isn’t quite out of cinemas yet but Warner Bros are already planning to re-release the movie in order to give it an extra nudge towards next year’s Oscar ceremony.
To date, the movie has taken in excess of $966,580,000 worldwide making it easily the highest grossing movie of the year and the decade. TDK has been tipped for Oscar glory ever since the tragic death of Heath Ledger, and his potential nomination even became a major selling point for the movie.
However, WB knows that Oscar judges only start paying attention to what is doing well in cinemas around the January-February period - A full 6 months after TDK was released. So to put The Caped Crusader back in the forefront of their minds, WB are looking to do a deal with IMAX to get the film onto a number of their screens early in the new year.
As yet there is no news if the move will extend to cinemas abroad or even to conventional cinemas within the US, but one thing is for sure… The Dark Knight Returns!
