Quantum Of Solace to omit “Bond, James Bond”

It seems that the new Bond film ‘Quantum of Solace’ as well as being the first direct sequel in the Bond canon, will also continue Casino Royale’s more gritty, realistic style by dropping one more of the traditional James Bond characteristics; apparently the new film will not include the infamous line “the name’s Bond, James Bond”.
In an interview with The Independent, Director Marc Forster said:
“There was a ‘Bond, James Bond’ in the script,” he said. “There are several places where we shot it as well, but it never worked as we hoped. I just felt we should cut it out, and Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson [the film's producers] agreed, and Daniel [Craig, who plays Bond] agreed, too. It’s nice to be open-minded about the Bond formula. You can always go back to them later on.”
Casino Royale was the most successful Bond film in years, both critically and at the box-office and the director is obviously trying to recreate that success by moving even further away from the campy aspects of the older films in the series. Where Casino Royale dropped Bond staples Miss Moneypenny and Q, Quantum of Solace will avoid infamous line such as “Bond, James Bond” and “Vodka Martini, shaken not stirred”.
I loved the grittier feel of Casino Royale so for now I think they’re heading in the right direction with the franchise, the only downside is that they are dangerously close to touching on Bourne territory. This is James Bond, the original and best, they need to make sure they set it apart from the other action-spy movies out there.

This is a bit of a shame to be honest. I always get a kick out of how it’s delivered. Maybe they should distance themselves further from the franchise and have everyone call 007 ‘Peter’.
He could politely decline pre-marital sex, order a virgin banana daiquiri, and give a startled scream and put his hand on his chest every time a shot is fired.
I’m in favor of breaking with the formula - I don’t think a series can successfully continue if actors and directors don’t have enough room to make their own creative mark. But I would hope for the line to reappear in the next Bond film.
James Bond made his introduction with this single line. It introduced an icon and its use in every film in the series is a something that sends chills down the spine, even when it’s not quite done right (Die Another Day, I’m looking at you).
What they should do is have Bond be an amnesiac assassin. That would be a new step for the series. OH WAIT.
Bond is dead.
