New Twilight Trailer

new-twilight-myspace-trailerI don’t think there has ever been a film so anticipated by one section of the population, that has another section of the population rolling their eyes as much.

Twilight is a modern romance about a high school girl and a vampire. It’s based off a hugely popular novel aimed at teenage girls, and that’s the audience for the movie. An audience which is fanatical about it (this one trailer on myspace has been watched 3.1 million times in the last 5 days). Twilight will make a lot of money on November 21st.

The problem is, those of us who are 10, 15 years older have just seen it all before. The trailer doesn’t show us anything that wasn’t well covered in vampire films a decade ago.

It also suffers from a distinctly straight-to-video bad guy – the type that walks around with a ponytail, scowling. It’s just not enough.

To be fair, Robert Pattinson does have an interesting face for it, with his oddly flat nose and wide eyed stare. He certainly has the aura of a star in the making (after playing Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire), and I’m kind of intrigued to see how he does in this.

Are you interested in this movie and not a female under the age of 20? Sound off below.

Why is it that with every year that passes, vampires look gayer and gayer? No one would have looked twice at Nosferatu, and Christopher Lee was a badass alpha male. A few short years later and we’ve got Tom Cruise with lipstick on and some emo in a sports jacket.

Stop the world, I want to get off.

Well, I saw the trailers for this movie and it looks pretty good. I am going to watch it. I think of it as a cross between after dark/lost boys.

Fair enough. All I’m really saying is it’s targeted at a particular demographic. There’s nothing wrong with that, and it’s doing an excellent job of it. But it’s not like Titanic where there was something for the girls, something for the boys.

I’m going to take a stand and say this movie looks absolutely horrendous. I will probably be watching Commando when this comes out just to help balance things.

I’m not really that fond of all the actors but I do love the books. So I’m going to go see this movie. Regardless of how many vampire novels/movies that are the same I want to go see it.

I must say that most people (no matter his or her age) who have read the books will be going to see this movie. If you have not read the books, then you will not be able to understand the absolute obsession that people (including me) have with these characters. I am thirty years old, married, with two kids, and I have already bought my tickets to see this! I can hardly wait!
