Twilight 2 (New Moon) – Sequel Plans

twilight-2-new-moon-sequel

This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone monitoring this, but LA Weekly have just reported that the studio is already prepping a Twilight 2, weeks before the first Twilight even hits cinemas.

The early sequel development has been prompted by these facts:
- the Twilight movie has the fastest selling licensed merchandise since Harry Potter.
- the Twilight soundtrack is already in the top 5 in Amazon, based on pre-orders alone.
- the Borders Twilight calendar stock sold out in a few days.
- the MySpace trailer got 3 million hits in 5 days.
That’s not the norm.

Twilight also has a much lower budget than Potter, at $37 million. So for a small start-up like Summit, a sequel is just too good a deal to waste any time on.

And even if Twilight opens around the $25m mark, you can guarantee it will be getting a lot of repeat viewings, because that’s what the target audience is prone to do.

So what’s Twilight 2 all about? The sequel will be based on the second novel in the series, called New Moon. Here’s what happens in the book:

(spoilers) “Worried a member of his vampire family might attack her, Edward abandons Bella and leaves town. Dismayed, she turns to old family friend Jacob for comfort. Jacob turns out to be a werewolf. Without Edward, Bella jumps off a cliff (because the adrenaline gives her a spiritual connection to him), and is rescued from the sea by Jacob. Edward’s vampire “sister”, has a vision of the event, but it doesn’t include the rescue, so, assuming her to be dead, Edward travels to Italy to end his life. He is stopped just in time, but told by the Vampire Order than he must either kill Bella or turn her. It ends with Bella opting to be turned.”

I was hoping they have already cornedered all the characters into doing all four movies.(Wishful thinking.) It really downgrades the movie if they have to change characters. I would think they would want to do all the movies, because the books just get better and better.

Bella doesn’t try to kill herself, she jumps for a hallucination to hear edward’s voice (which happens when she does reckless things), and then as she jumped she realised ‘oh ops, the waters are pretty rough i might die, oh well life isn’t worth living without edward anyway’- but she tries to make survive fighting the water ,….and then….u will have to read the book to see what happens :P

I think the twilight movie will be a smash hit. Not counting the teenage girls, every grown woman will be going to see this film with husbands in towe. My husband was so disgusted with the time I spent reading the books, I think his curiosity is getting the better of him. I think he wants to see the movie more that I do! The producers had better be smart about it, and film all three of the rest of the movies.. New moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn at once. And Very Soon! Remember, vampires and werewolfs dont age. If the actors age 4-6 years their characters will age as well. That wont bode well for the storyline if the Characters look 4-6 years older in the last movie. Just a thought.

It would be awesome to make the other movies based on the other books but it wouldnt be that great if they used different characters every time so they should hurry!!!

You know, I highly doubt that the actors will not sign on to do a second movie considering this movie made 70 million in the first weekend, and it only had a budget of 37 million. But I’m a little worried about who they’re going to use for Jacob because the guy in the first film doesn’t suit the hight requirements, and personally I think the whole growth spurt thing is a huge part in the book because it foreshadows ***SPOILER*** him turning into a werewolf. Any ideas??

I don’t know, all i know is that i will be going to see all the movies and byinf them all, i have been watching trailers of Twilight, and New Moon, and i just can’t stop, it’s an addiction LOL.
