Simple choice. Do you read the Saw 5 soundtrack review?
Autumn is here. Leaves are falling. The air is chill. Halloween is close.
It’s also the perfect time to see seemingly undesirable people be slowly tortured and killed via decapitation! Yes folks, it’s time to get your SAW on.
The fifth installment of this never-ending franchise (not matched since Friday The 13th) is upon us, and guess what the soundtrack contains? I guarantee you there will be no “Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass” on this bad boy. This album is chock full of the best angry techno-angst your misunderstood mind can muster! There’s music for people to scream to, music for people to punch things to and music for people to just plain grimace to.
Saw 6 News |
The Saw 5 soundtrack (Saw V?) contains all the standards of what the franchise delivers. There have really been no creative or radical changes from film to film. It’s got the quality of a poor man’s David Fincher with some actual score pieces by Charlie Clouser who jumped a little too late on the Trent Reznor bandwagon. I’m not saying there’s not a place for films like this; I’m just saying that we’re all a little tired of “explanation” horror. You know the kind, where everything has to be explained about the killer’s motives, and if it takes ten films to do it, well then dammit, ten it is! “What? We need techno death metal to drive the point home? I thought excessive blue & green lens filters should work just fine!”
I’m sorry, I’ve trailed off. Where was I? Yes, you don’t need me to explain what the Saw 5 soundtrack sounds like. If you’ve enjoyed the others then there’s no reason you won’t enjoy this one. I Guarantee it.
And if you can prove me wrong, I’ll eat my own stomach which carries a small key that can release my arms which are attached to the trigger of an Uzi pointed at my HEAD!
There, I just gave out a trap idea for Saw 6.

I really rate Charlie Clouser’s theme for this series. Shame there isn’t more of his score available (the non thrash metal bits).
I wonder what number the Saw series will get up to? Saw VIII is going to look pretty strange on posters. …I knew learning about roman numerals would come in handy one day.
I guess horror franchises are educational. I never would have learned my roman numerals if it weren’t for the Friday the 13th series.
Where public education fails, crap horror fills in.
Not surprising. Reminds of the movie Boy Eats Girl I watched recently… actually turned off in the first 30 minutes. The soundtrack was like a show on the WB: non-stop pop Emo rock and I couldn’t take it. Techno-metal soundtracks really rub me the wrong way as well. The Saw series is a formula and its respective director’s entry-level throwaway film (look Ma, I made a movie!)
