Friday The 13th Remake – Teaser Trailer

friday the 13th remake trailerThe new teaser trailer for the Friday The 13th remake got an airing this week at the Scream Awards, and it’s now available here to watch.

The verdict? : Really not too bad. There’s a compelling atmosphere.

The old theme music doesn’t match the new look at all, but it’s nice to hear.

And from the glimpse we see, I quite like the way Jason ‘moves’ – Given he has no dialogue, this aspect shouldn’t be underestimated. The truly creepy slasher characters walk and run in a way that’s slight “off”. Michael Myers is eerily still. Here Jason seems to be slightly out of kilter and off-balance, in keeping with his deformity.

Leave your thoughts on the new Friday The 13th teaser trailer in the comments.

Jason isn’t doing some clever spooky walk. He’s just getting a run up to whack that woman in the head with a big knife.

At best, he looks like he’s doing the ‘Freddy waddle’ from Nightmare on Elm Street, when Feddy has the long arms and is waddling down the street. And even then he was only walking funny because his arms were too big.

    Expectations: low.

Movement-wise I hope that’s what it is, that they’ve paid attention to it.

Your expectations are low Blat Attack, but let me ask you, how many Friday The 13th films have you seen, and which ones were they? Love of the franchise is the number one reason for high expectations in this case.

Not bad. I’ve not yet introduced myself to the Friday the 13th franchise (which I will have done before the film comes out), but I think the film has a lot of potential.

This remake doesn’t bother me nearly as much since FRIDAY THE 13TH was pretty much just a typical slasher film so I’m willing to give it a chance. After watching this teaser it took me about thirty seconds to recognize this being a Michael Bay production. Know why? Because I don’t have a fucking clue what was going on in that shack thanks to the retarded editing — When the hell did the floorboards break apart?! However that very last shot does give me some slight hope.

They should have got Andy Serkis to play Jason. I’d pay to see that.

I saw the first four Fridays and Jason X.

I wish I hadn’t. This movie is probably going to suck.

I CANT WAIT TO SEE THIS FILM…IF THERE WAS EVER A FILM THAT NEEDED TO BE REVAMPED AND SOMEWHAT CONDENSED, IT WOULD BE FRIDAY THE 13TH. THE FIRST 3 MOVIES WERE GREAT, 4 WAS OK, BUT THEN THINGS WENT HAYWIRE. THIS LOOKS LIKE IT MIGHT ACTUALLY BE SCARY…

Can’t wait to see this one. 1 and 2 were great, 3 sucked, 4 good, 5 ok, and after six they got bad. But have watched every one and if it’s anything like the remakes of Texas Chainsaw and Amittyville Horror which brought back the true horror film feeling w/o destroying the originals plot which seems to have been lost. I love the CGI part and what they can make seem so real today but back in the 70’s it was almost better just showing it from the killers point of view and no fancy stuff.

    I’m 43.
I was there in the 80’s for the opening night for Friday the 13th. It a classic horror film that started a genre.
I am not a fan of remakes, I believe if you cant come up with something original then give up the ghost already and find a different career choice.
One thing i did notice with this film was they made Jason faster and that may bring some extra intensity to this film.

scubabillaz, I would have loved to have been there for the original opening night. What was the mood/reaction like?
