24.10.08 # Trailers # 2 CommentsWait, didn’t we just do this? Yup this is the second new Friday The 13th trailer this week. The first, shown at the Scream Awards, played more like an extended clip but this is a proper teaser trailer, presumably for mass consumption.
Once again, my opinion is coloured by my love of the franchise, but I think this is superb. Truly atmospheric, eerie, and the monologue from Jason’s mother (word for word from the original movie) fits it perfectly.

I’m glad they stayed true to at least the soundtrack. A Friday the 13th movie without Harry Manfredini’s iconic theme is like a Superman movie without Superman’s theme.
I think overlaying it over a new, modern take on the mongoloid definitely helps bridge the gap from the cult classic to the “humanizing” portrayal trend of legendary figures now. Either way, my opinion is also tinted by my love of the original franchise. Looking forward to this anyway!
Interesting in the preview here at the end shows Jason running up to his victim? Hmmmm Jason doesn’t Run. I for one thought the so called Remake of Texas chain saw massacre was great however to call it a remake is insulting to the original and the story line was totally different. I am thinking this will probably be the same with this remake for Friday the 13th. I look forward to seeing it and picking it apart! I’m sure will be entertaining but nothing like the original and shouldn’t be remade. Whats up Hollywood with all the “Remakes”? Have we really run out of movies and ideas to write?
