David Fincher’s Facebook Movie – Status Updated

Facebook Movie - News Roundup
Armie Hammer (Gossip Girl, and Batman in the aborted Justice League movie), Max Minghella (Agora, and son of the late Anthony) and Rooney Mara (Nancy in the new Nightmare On Elm Street) have joined the cast of David Fincher’s The Social Network.

They join a host of other young actors alongside the three better known leads Jesse Eisenberg (Zombieland), Andrew Garfield (dreadful in Lions For Lambs) and Justin Timberlake. Eisenberg and Garfield play two of the founders of Facebook and Timberlake the role of Napster co-founder Sean Parker.

I think for most people the only thing keeping them even remotely interested in this film is that David Fincher is directing, he could turn this TV movie concept into something very good. To be honest though I was slightly disappointed with his last film, my friend dubbed it The Uncurious Case of Benjamin Boring, which I found quite an apt description. Too saccarine and sentimental for my tastes and a far cry from the gloomy brillliance of Seven or of course his anti-consumerist masterpiece Fight Club. Hopefully though The Social Network will see him back to his best but Ii feel as though he should be making something more controversial than a film about a bunch of stupidly rich computer geeks. Not jealous, I don’t want to be a billionaire anyway!

What do you think, are you excited by the concept of the film or do you think it will be Benjamin boring?

Why on earth have you forgotten to mention Brenda Song? SHE JOINED THE CAST TOO alongside Mara, Hammer and Minghella and Song is more popular than all of those three actors combined. She is a household name and ignoring her is stupid.

I’m disappointed with the casting of Max Minghella, a half white/chinese guy, who has been hired to play Divya Narendra, an Indian person. If the characters were fictional then fine, but these are real people and Max doesn’t look remotely Indian!

He does have talent but it feels like he would have only been auditioned to begin with because of being the son of the late Anthony Minghella.

The casting decision of Max has turned me off the movie, it seems to be a clear example of Hollywood placing more restrictions on Indian/Pakistani actors.

And no, I’m not even Asian myself!

Yeah, don’t get me started on Max Minghella playing an Indian person. That’s a terrible choice and kind of offensive. Why didn’t David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin just get white actors in blackface to play African-Americans too!

I couldn’t have said it better myself, it’s another clear example of Hollywood putting restrictions on Indian/Pakistani actors.

And just like yourself, I’m not Asian either! Lol.
