Hammer’s ‘The Resident’ - First Pictures
29.10.09 # 12:35 # News # 2 CommentsThe first screen shots of the upcoming Hammer film The Resident have just been released. The Resident is set to be Hammer’s first film for over 30 years and stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Hillary Swank and Hammer veteran Christopher Lee. Lee provided one of cinema’s most memorable renditions of Dracula in the Hammer film Dracula: Prince of Darkness. The old Hammer movies seem quite dated now and are more likely to provoke laughter than terror, but there was a time when Hammer dominated the Horror film market.
Here is a synopsis of The Resident courtesy of Hammer’s website -
Every year, three million single women in America move into an apartment for the first time. They do not know who lived in the apartment before them, they do not know their landlords, and they don’t bother to change the locks. This is the story of one such woman…
After separating from her husband, pretty young doctor Juliet Dermer moves to Brooklyn, settling into a new life in a stunning and spacious loft apartment that seems too good to be true.
It is…
Mysterious occurrences lead her to suspect that she is not alone in her home and quickly her fears become all too real. In a chilling revelation, she discovers that her seemingly charming, young landlord, Max, has developed a dangerous obsession with her. A terrifying game of cat and mouse ensues as Juliet fights to free herself from Max’s sinister intentions.
And here are the stills -

Jeffrey Dean Morgan cops a feel.

Saruman still recovering from the shock of being cut from Return of the King.
So the images do little more than prove the film exists, but hey I think this films got potential and the revival of Hammer has got be a good thing for the British film industry and cinema as a whole.

I take it “her seemingly charming, young landlord, Max” isn’t that old bloke, Robert Downey Jr lookalike, in the still
