Robocop (Reboot) – Trailer

Robocop Reboot Trailer
Half man, half machine, all been done before – whether or not you want it, José Padilha reboot/make/imagining of Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 sci-fi classic has been in the pipeline for a while. It seems nobody’s yet clocked onto the the irony of a major studio doing a big-budget re-something of a film that preached against rampant corporatism.

Hugh Laurie Is Robocop Villain + Early Teaser Poster

Robocop Villain & Picture
He might be thin as a broom handle but Hugh Laurie still manages to be as full of surprises as a Biggest Loser contestant is full of hamburgers. Having already gone from upper class comic twit on UK telly to uber-successful stateside grouch in House, he is now set to take another surprise step, as he tackles the bad guy role in MGM’s Robocop remake.

Gary Oldman Joins Robocop Remake

Gary Oldman for Robocop Remake
It had looked a casting match made in character naming heaven: Edward Norton (remember the surname) heavily linked to a role in MGM’s Robocop remake which would see him playing the scientist who transforms wounded patrolman Alex Murphy into the titular cyborg. The boffin’s name? Norton (y’see). Only it ain’t gonna happen now, ‘cause Gary Oldman’s got the gig.

Noah Vs. Robocop? Which Will Russell Choose?

Noah vs. Robocop? Which Will Russell Crowe Choose?
Russell Crowe is an actor with his pick of the projects, and it seems as if he might have a mighty interesting choice ahead of him, as rumours in the last couple of days have linked him to the title roles in both Darren Aronofsky’s Biblical opus Noah and Jose Padilha’s remake of Robocop, a movie which for a long time was actually being developed by Aronofsky.

Michael Fassbender To Be New Robocop?

New Robocop Movie, Starring Fasssbender?
Wow, Michael Fassbender really has it all, doesn’t he? Just days after winning his very own cup named in honour of one of Mussolini’s fascist pals, it looked like his next acquisition was going to be the Robocop remake gig, as he stepped into the stainless steel shoes previously sported on the big screen by Peter Weller and, less famously, Robert John Burke. However José Padilha, the chosen Robocop director, has sounded a note of caution, suggesting that said casting is far from locked.

Exclusive – Michael C. Hall To Play RoboCop?

Robocop Casting - Michael C. Hall
The planned remake of Paul Verhoeven’s sci-fi masterpiece ‘RoboCop’ got a whole lot less interesting when Darren Aronofsky distanced himself from it. MGM is still planning to make it though and today Chris Pine is rumoured elsewhere to be first choice to play Alex Murphy/RoboCop, the police officer who is killed whilst on duty and brought back as man/machine hybrid. Think Inspector Gadget but with a lot more killing.

Darren Aronofsky Officially Signs On To Robocop Reboot!

By James Roland

We’ve just been handed an official MGM press release here at Comic-Con:

They are calling it a “new installment” which hints at a sequel rather than a remake, which will make fans of the fantastic first film (myself included) very very happy. With the creative forces behind The Fountain (Aronofsky) and Road to Perdition (Self) we can only hope Peter Weller will return to complete the triune god of geek awesome.

Don’t forget Aronofsky nearly directed ‘Batman Year One’ back in the day before it went to Christopher Nolan and became Batman Begins, so perhaps this news isn’t quite as strange as it seems.

Robocop Remake – Aronofsky Directing?!?

By Dark Halo

From the W-T-F department, The Hollywood Reporter mentioned in passing that director Darren Aronofsky is in “discussions” to do a re-do of the 80s sci-fi classic Robocop.

If he did take the job it’s not certain how it would fit into the director’s frantic schedule as he is just finishing his shoot on The Wrestler (starring Mickey Rourke) and set to begin on The Fighter (with Mark Wahlberg and Matt Damon) this fall.
