The fact there hasn’t been more publicity hoopla and hubbub about Universal’s Bourne Legacy so far is surely down to the fact that this fourth Bourne movie is minus director Paul Greengrass, the man credited with raising the series from good to great, and Matt Damon, aka Jason Bourne himself. However the first trailer for Legacy is now upon us, so let the anticipatory slavering commence!

After Marvel Studios bigwig Kevin Feige decided to angrily bounce Edward Norton out of Joss Whedon’s Avengers, the actor was left casting around for another big-budget 2012 blockbuster in which he could star. Well, unlike that prat Bono, it would seem Norton has found what he’s looking for, as he is apparently in negotiations to appear in The Bourne Legacy.

To recap: the fourth Bourne movie is going ahead. Matt Damon is not in it. Bourne is not in it. These are both good things. Rather than ruin what is essentially a perfect trilogy by unnaturally stretching out the story, writer of the previous Bourne movies and director of the upcoming Bourne Legacy Tony Gilroy has wisely decided to focus on the ramifications of Jason Bourne’s actions in the previous films and explore the world of intrigue those films created.
