I watched the first two Hellraiser movies recently. Both were very good and definitely horrifying in pretty much every sense of the word. I wouldn't recommend them to just anyone, some of that stuff was pretty sick. I've been told to avoid the other entries in the series, though.

Left 4 Dead is like an Unreal game, it's only fun when you're playing with other people. It was designed around that entire concept, so it kind of makes sense that it should play that way. I've actually started working on a mod for the game that basically shifts the game from being a "zombie movie game" to a "slasher movie game". Should be interesting.

Yep, Beyond Thunderdome. Had Tina Turner in it. It's kind of a sad movie to watch, because the first half of it is absolutely brilliant, then the second half is just a slap to the face. It's also PG-13, so a lot of the stuff that was in the previous two movies wasn't gonna fly in this one.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. I wouldn't say it was great or anything, but I really enjoyed it. All three hours of it. Surprisingly, our theater was not as packed as I thought, but the theater we saw it at had it on three screens, so that probably had something to do with it.

Sheridan, I actually agree with you about the remake thing. Even though I absolutely adore the originals, I've always wondered what they'd be like given a proper budget.
Although the thing with remakes is that you can either get something like The Thing, or something like Halloween. We wouldn't want Mel to be upset if his iconic character got the latter.

According to an MTV movie blog, the fourth Mad Max film is being developed as a 3D anime flick. I don't think I'm alone when I say my first reaction is "what...?" I've always kind of felt that this movie would be one of those that we'd always hear tidbits about its development, but it just gets tossed around so much that nothing actually gets made of it. However, this latest interview with George Miller all but confirms that Max will be back. Initially this rubbed me the wrong way, but there are a few really strong anime flicks out there, and my fingers are crossed it will be able to stand proudly against others like Akira. http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2009/03/05/exclusive-fourth-mad-max-in-developmentas-3-d-anime-feature/

Robocop Been meaning to watch it, finally got it in on my Netflix list. Ridiculous from start to finish, Verhoeven showing his usual sense of restraint. For anyone who's a fan of Verhoeven movies or 80s action in general, this movie is definitely for them. Best moment being the toxic waste roadkill. Now I'm just really confused over how Aronofsky will handle the remake.
Mirrors Saw this at a friends. The beginning half was good. Not anything great, but definitely had our attention and we were hooked by the whole mystery of the thing. But once Jack Bauer started to unravel the story behind the mirrors, it just got incredibly far-fetched and way out of left field (yes, even for a movie about killer mirrors). Basically, be intrigued by the first part, and amused by the second.

There's actually a store like three blocks away from my apartment called "Fairly Honest Bob's". It's pretty much a carbon copy of that store in Toronto there. The guy who runs it asks for way too much though and gets really angry when you try and haggle him down.

I think you guys are mistakenly calling Paul W.S. Anderson the far superior Paul Thomas Anderson. One did Boogie Nights, the other did AvP.
Still, great list. Alien is definitely one of my favorite movies of all time. I still have yet to see Scanners, but it's on my Netflix right after I get done with Robocop. Another name for this list should be "scientists whose ambition needs to be knocked down a few notches for their own good".
