Hey Sheridan!
I never left. Its just that there really hasnt been any good movies coming out that I thought were worth watching for the past 3 weeks. I think I will see harold and kumar and maybe chronicles of narnia.  I also saw Iron man, but I didnt write a qucik review for that one because its such a good film that I thought word of mouth alone would push it.
Anyways,  while in the theater for Maid of Honor, they had a preview of Sex in the City. AND MY GF WANTS TO SEE THAT MOVIE!!! I think I am going to rip my eyeballs out. I would rather watch Maid of Honor than Sex in the City.

I knew you would love it!

I gave it an A for being a chick flick that a guy can  go with his gf or wife and actually enjoy it. It had all the elements to it-> good story, funny moments, likeable characters, great scenery, and very little if any corny sex scenes.  Would I pay $10 to watch this alone or with the guys?. Nope. Would I rent it?  Nope. Its not my type of movie. But, if you HAVE to watch a movie with a chick, this is the movie to see. For that reason, I gave it an A. Otherwise, overall, I give it a B.
44  Movie Moron Forum / Reviews / Quick Review: Shattered (B-) on: May 18, 2008, 05:32:51 PM
I have mixed feelings about this one. It looks like it is based on a Japanese horror movie. If not, it sure does borrow from the Japanese horror film genre. Very quickly, main character is a photographer who recently got married.
Wife is driving on the road and sees a girl walking across the road suddenly. She swerves but hits her and crashes into a tree. Police arrive, but can't find the body. Flash forward to Japan. A strange thing happens when they take pictures: a white light image appears in their photos. Oh, did I mention that the girl manifests herself to them as well. The rest of the movie follows the wife and how she unravels the mystery of the girl. I won't go into detail because it will give away the story.
Dislikes: no scary points. Nothing that made me jump like other Japanese movies; slow moving characters unrealistic. I mean, if some guy is touching your woman right in front of you, wouldn't you be mad or at least say something?
un-original, plain story
It is not to say that it is a bad movie. It's just that it wasn't scary enough for me or made me jump. This is definitely a rental.

Okay, okay, I usually don't go see chick flicks but this time, it was gf's turn to pick the movie to watch and we ended up seeing Maid of Honor. I thought I would be falling asleep or bored out of my wits, but honestly, this was a great movie. They did a really good job on it.  It stars Patrick Dempsey as some 40ish playboy who somehow can get women to sleep with him easily (I wish I had that problem). But then again, the women he sleeps with are brainless now that I think about it. Anyways, the one true female friend that he can tell all his secrets to is Amy. He has never slept with her and because of this, he has much respect and admiration for her. So much so that he would rather invite her to his dad's 6th wedding! party that some of the other more beautiful bimbos that he sleeps with.. The funny thing is that when they are together, they act like they are going out. Constantly flirting, but never going over the edge and never letting their feelings get in the way until...
Amy travels to scotland for a month for business and meets a Scottie whom she is going to marry (yes, its one of those shot gun weddings). And thus, the story begins as to how Patrick Dempsey suddenly realizes that he loves Amy and how he, with the help of his friends, try to get Amy to dump him.
Definitely check out this movie. Its done really well. Beautiful scenery and many hilarious parts. The one funny character that cracked up the audience was the skinny, thin basketball player. Hella funny.
Stinkingbob says check it out.

This movie looks freaking awesome!! I will definitely watch it. Jenna is HOT! Any ideas on when the release date it.
Sure, it is a campy B movie but those are the ones that make the most money.
47  Movie Moron Forum / Reviews / Quick Review: 10,000 BC (B) on: March 15, 2008, 06:39:18 PM
The trailers for 10,000BC threw off. I was expecting a different movie; something with epic battles between man and beasts alike. Something akin to Lord of the rings and Stargate. But I was wrong. I am not saying that it is a bad film. Just a little boring. I should have seen it coming since it had a pg-13 rating. You might call this a chick flick set in the past. Here is a brief summary of what it is about:
There is a tribe with a woman in it who can see into the future. She predicts some soldiers will come by and take away people from the tribe. She also says that 2 people(I will call them Man and Woman) from the tribe will grow up to free their people and lead them in the future.
So, years later, raiders do come and steal away people from the tribe. They abduct Woman. Story then unfolds on how Man goes after Woman and how he gets the help from neighboring tribes to help him. For you see, the raiders also stole people from other tribes. They end up in what can be described as a scene out of Stargate where you see pyramids, slaves building stone structures, and someone like Raa.
So, why did it get a B. Well, there wasn't that much action. I really got tired of looking at CGI of elephants or mammoths as they were called back then. The only time it got interesting was when the giant ostriches attacked, but other than that, I was looking more at my watch than the movie. Why would chicks like this? Well, everything was done for the love of a woman. And so there ya go. Oh yea, did I mention that 99% of the actors are men wearing Tarzan-like clothing. This movie is defintinely not worth paying matinee prices for. I wouldn't even rent it, personally. Its not a bad movie, just not enough action. They really could have made this better, but as such, it gets a B.  Guys, check, out Doomsday or vantage Point. Ladies, check out 10,000BC.

49  Movie Moron Forum / Reviews / Re: Quick Review: Diary of the Dead (B-) on: February 28, 2008, 10:59:17 PM
Hey Sheridan,
I wish directors and studio execs would make a movie like the 2005? remake of Dawn Of The Dead. That was a freakin awesome movie mainly because the dead ran really fast and not trudged along like a caterpillar. They were truly scary. I wish more movies were like this. I guess this is why 20 days later and 20 weeks later did so well. Fast zombies and more menacing.
50  Movie Moron Forum / Your Topics / Personal Lives / Opinion-> Why won't you vote for Hillary? on: February 28, 2008, 01:32:46 PM
I am asking only Democrats and Independents.  This is for a little paper I am writing for class.
I will give you my opinion and then you guys can share yours.
It was thought that Hillary would have swept the nomination for the Democratic presidency with ease. Afterall, her husband was the great Bill Clinton under whose administration, our country and economy prospered. Her real threat was considered John Edwards and no one thought that a no-namer called Barak Obama would have risen to the status that he is at now (kinda like what happened to Bill Clinton).  The question though is why has Obama risen above hillary? Is it because of Oprah endorsing him. I don't think so.
My reason: Hillary and Bills negative attacks on Obama. I guess people saw Hillary has the level-headed, cool, caring person. But, they also saw her Mr. Hyde personality come out during the 2nd debate and also when campaigning. Kinda scary.  It was like she had on 2 faces. Barak, has been calm and cool throughout everything and people look at this and admire him for this. The same can't be said for Hillary. pEOPLE WANT COSNSITENCY FROM THE CANDIDATE AND hILLARY HA NOT SHOWN THIS. tHIS IS WHY PEIOPLE ARE TURNED OFF TO HER.
Sorry about the cpas lock. What is your opinion?

51  Movie Moron Forum / TV / Re: Good TV Shows - The Sarah Connor Chronicles on: February 28, 2008, 01:18:47 PM
Thanks for tuning in to the Sara Connor Chronicles Sheridan!  Honestly,  when a new show comes out with the type of genre that I like, I watch it one season and then make the determination if it is good or bad.  The first episodes usually sets up the characters and story and as each episode is shown, things progress.  Take a look at Flash Gordon on Sci-Fi channel. The first few episodes were stupid. I admit it. But I gave the show a chance and watched more and more and you know, it is not that bad at all. Towards the end, it got really good.  Same with BattleStar Galactica and Journeyman(although that show got cancelled). Some shows you like right off the bat. Some, you have to watch over a period of time.
52  Movie Moron Forum / Reviews / Quick Review: Diary of the Dead (B-) on: February 28, 2008, 12:43:11 PM
Not too many people knew about Diary of the Dead, the latest film by the master of the undead, George Romero. In fact, there wasn't one ad, even in the newspaper that I saw and it is only playing in 1 theater from where I am at (not a major theater, but a small boutique one). Usually, when a film gets little to no fare, it's because the studio knows it will be a dud (Hottie and the Nottie), but they release it anyway. What a shame, because DOTD was a good movie. Not a great movie, but classic Romero. And if you are a Romero fan like me, you know what that means.
What is unique about DOTD is that it is shot from the viewpoint of the camera, a la Cloverfield and Blairwitch (this is a first for Romero).  This adds a sense of realism and sets up "jump" moments where the movie can scare you from something rushing off camera onto the camera.  The story goes like this: a group of students and a professor are making a zombie film in the woods when they hear reports of dead people coming back to life attacking the living. There is even footage of this on the tv. As a result, the group tries to get back to their respective homes and families/friends. They stop off at a dorm, hospital, woods, 2 houses, a farm  etc only to encounter the walking dead. Jason is the die hard student that does the filming with the camera at each location and then when possible, uploads the feed to the internet for others to watch.
As with all Romero movies, there is intentional humor thrown in (the part with the Amish farmer was funny) and of course some inviduals(s) who do something stupid in the film which wrecks it for the rest of the survivors.
This movie was shot on a low budget. There were no extravagant sets to build, no shopping malls, no kind of street shots (where they would have to pay a city fees to shoot scenes). I take that back. There was a hospital scene, but that was the hallway and a room, which would be cheap to build. Everything was done pretty much outdoors and within houses. Plus, the actors are no-namers so no big salaries spent on that. Figure in, no advertising by the studio  and so, whatever this movie makes, it will definitely make a profit.
What they did spend money on was the killing shots. Bullet to the head, pole through the head, even this cool scene of acid dissolving the head. Nice. Overall, there wasn't that much gore as compared to his other movies (no limbs coming off, no closeups of guts being eaten or necks being torn); Again, I think if he was given a bigger budget, these things would have been added. But as it stands, even though the gore is somewhat missing, it doesn't take away anything from the movie. But, from the perspective of a person who likes gore, this is why I gave the move a B-.  The movie had all the elements to it. Just needed a bigger budget and more gore. But as it stands, it is a good movie. Would I recommend you watch it? If you are a Romero fan, pay the $7.50 - $10 and watch it if it is being shown in your city. If you aren't a Romero fan, then this is a DVD rental due to the fact that here isn't enough blood, gore and action in this DOTD film that we are used to seeing now in movies (But, this is classic Romero).
53  Movie Moron Forum / Reviews / Re: Quick Review: Jumper (B+) on: February 17, 2008, 12:06:28 PM
Oh, no. By blown away, I meant that the movie exceeding well beyond my expectations of what I thought it would be. Matrix 1 set the plot and characters and story. Matrix 2 blew me away with the action sequences. You remember the fight in the highway. What I really enjoyed was the fight with the twins in the house/staircase.
Matrix 2 did things that I never would have expected after seeing Matrix 2. Matrix 3 just plain sucked in my opinion.
If the producer/director did Jumpers 2 well, it could turn out to be an excellent movie.
54  Movie Moron Forum / Reviews / Quick Review: Jumper (B+) on: February 17, 2008, 12:29:48 AM
I had the opportunity to see this sci-fi flick on Saturday and I really enjoyed it.  It reunites Anakin with Master Windu but this time they are on opposing sides.
Oops, wrong movie.  Sam Jackson plays the bad guy, with a new look (he sports white hair). He is with an organization called the Paladins whose job it is to track down and kill Jumpers (Anakin). Jumpers have the ability to travel in the blink of an eye to any place that they have visually seen, albeit in real life or photo. Apparently, the paladins think that Jumpers are bad because of the potential harm that their powers could cause. In their arsenal, they use shock sticks and shock nets ala predator style.  The electricity interrupts a Jumpers ability to , well, jump or portal out. Many questions were left unanswered in this movie.  After looking at the movie preview review, I see that this is planed as a trilogy. Great! Maybe they can explain things in the upcoming sequels.
For this reason, I gave it a B+. I just don't understand why the Jumpers are on the run from the paladins. It seems to me that they should get together and jump in the HQ and take them out. But I guess if they did that, then there wouldn't be a movie. Nonetheless, things are set up in this movie that should make the sequels worth seeing. Think how Matrix 1 was and then Matrix 2 came out and blew everyone away. The same could be done to this movie. Lets see what happens next year......  I recommend people see this movie and you could consider it a date movie as well.
55  Movie Moron Forum / Reviews / Quick Review: Untraceable (C) on: February 09, 2008, 03:30:22 PM
I went in with high hopes for this movie, but unfortunately, it fell flat. It had a good premise (killer broadcasts live feed of people whom he has kidnapped; Internet surfers who go to the site can watch as the victm is slowly killed. How fast he is killed is determined by how many people are going to the site), but failed to deliver. I guess I was looking for some kind of character development. Some reason to make me feel for the characters involved. It didn't happen. In fact, I found the male cop more creepy than the actual murderer. Basically, I had no idea what his function was in the movie. If you removed his character, the movie could have played out without him without a glitch.
There are no gory scenes. Very little action. One thing I didn't understand is that the main character portrays the role as a FBI computer specialist, yet, she does not password protect her own home computer!!  Go figure. But, I guess if she did, then there wouldn't be a movie.
I would not recommend people pay to see this film. It is not a good date movie either. It really isn't worth the price of a rental either.
See Juno instead.
56  Movie Moron Forum / Reviews / Meet the Spartans (User Review) (C+) on: February 09, 2008, 03:20:26 PM
As you might of guessed, this film is a spoof of the movie 300. I have mixed feelings about this one. There were some parts that made me laugh, but there wasn't anything new that made me go WOW. Yes, they spoofed American Idol, MTV's Yo Mama and Dance-Off, but all in all, it was an okay movie. Definitely not worth paying $9.50 for. The only good thing about it was Carmen Electra (body shots!)
Now, in the tv ads, they showed trump and spiderman and little rambo. These cuts were not in the movie.  Also, the movie is SHORT. It is about 1 hour and 10 minutes!!!!!!  It seems like the writers couldn't think up anything else "clever" enough to include, sso they cut it short. Bad, very bad.
I mildly enjoyed the movie, but it is not worth paying even matinee price for. Its a rental at best.
57  Movie Moron Forum / TV / Re: Crap TV Shows - The Sarah Connor Chronicles on: February 06, 2008, 01:20:26 PM
Sheridan, do me a favor: watch the show for a couple of weeks and then do a re-post of your assessment.
You have to remember that movies are pretty much once or twice a year things with big budgets and all star casts. With TV, you have a smaller budget, but are able to expand on the storyline over the course of a season and you don't have the major star power.
People shouldn't compare furlong to the new guy or Linda to the new woman. They are different but unique in their own way in what they bring to the screen. For the most part, I feel that they are doing a great job with the series.
58  Movie Moron Forum / Reviews / Re: Cloverfield (B+) (Fury Of The Film Fan) on: February 06, 2008, 01:02:03 PM
Can someone tell me what kind of videocamera was used in the movie.
I would love to have one that can shoot with lights on for 4 hours!
59  Movie Moron Forum / Reviews / Rambo (User Review) (A+) on: February 03, 2008, 01:31:51 AM
When I heard that Stallone was coming out with a new Rambo movie, my first impression was like "Isn't this guy too old to be doing an action movie?". Well, yes and no. In this movie, he really doesn't exert himself much physically. He leaves that up to a younger crew of mercenaries.  What surprised me the most about this film is the amount of graphical violence that is displayed. There is a lot of blood, gore and limbs coming off. Saving Private Ryan was nothing compared to what is depicted here in Rambo. I, myself loved every bit of it which is what I found most appealing. Forget the story, forget the plot. There really isn't one. Just the graphical violence and action. In fact, 99% of what you see the bullets do to human flesh and limbs is 100% true.  Yes, a sniper rifle can blow your head off and it can propel you back several hards. This is due to the high velocity of the bullet. What is not true is the destructive capability of the claymore. It does not create a mini nuclear- like explosion. That was made up.
The plot line goes like this: Rambo is living as a fisherman/snake catcher in Burma.  He is solitary and beaten down. I guess he is carrying a lot of weight on his shoulders from his past. Enter the bad guy. A general of some army who loves to go to villages and kill the people there. He usually steals the children for his future army. Why he does this is not known. He is just a sicko. Now, enter some American missionaries who want Rambo to take them up river to a village so they can bring the word of God to the people and oh yes, medicine and health care. Reluctantly Rambo does it and only because of the charms of a woman.  Well,  no sooner than the missionaries arrive to the village is it attacked and they are taken hostage. The father of the woman hires some mercenaries to get them back and wants rambo to take them to where he dropped them off initially. From there, the story unfolds.
I give this film an A+++ for its graphical and gory content and non-stop action. This was a killer Rambo movie and I hope they make more movies like this.
Definitely check this one out. You will love it,but if you are squeamish, you will probably cover your eyes throughout the whole film.

I saw and loved all the Resident Evil movies. My only gripe is the way the boss was killed in the  last movie. It was an easy way out.
