41  Movie Moron Forum / Movie News / Re: Director Terry Gilliam Explains What The Hell The Imaginarium Of Dr P Is About on: September 16, 2008, 03:40:57 PM
I really liked the Brothers Grimm.

Although, as a Gilliam obsessive, I'm bound to say that...
42  Movie Moron Forum / Movie News / Re: Ghost Busters 3 announced!!!! on: September 16, 2008, 03:37:49 PM
The original cast are going to look a bit silly reprising their old roles - they probably not as fit as they use to be - but it'll be cool to see them in the new movie training up new fresh face Ghostbusters.

I'm more worried about how they're going to redo the theme...
43  Movie Moron Forum / Movie News / Affleck to take on ‘The Town’. on: September 16, 2008, 03:32:44 PM

Ben Affleck’s acting credits may have been widely criticised in the past, but his directorial debut has earned Affleck a mountain of praise from the big bad movie world, and looks to have given him the opportunity to turn his camera hand to the big screen adaptation of Chuck Hogan’s novel ‘The Prince of Thieves’.

According to Variety, Affleck, whose direction of ‘Gone Baby Gone’ was criticially acclaimed, has been scouted by Warner Bros to not only sit in the director’s chair once again, but to also rewrite and star in the movie which will be released under the title ‘The Town’.

Affleck is to take on the role of a career thief who falls for the manager of a bank in Boston, Massachusetts – the same settling as the child kidnapping thiller, ‘Gone Baby Gone’.

Variety also reports that Affleck is rewriting the original script penned by Peter Craig, Hogan and himself.

Adrian Lyne, the man behind ‘Indecent Proposal’, was originally hired to direct the movie, but has pulled out.

44  Movie Moron Forum / Movie News / Norton uncertain over future of Hulk role. on: September 16, 2008, 02:47:42 PM

Edward Norton has expressed his uncertainty over whether he will be asked to take on the role of The Incredible Hulk again in future movies.

According to MTV, Norton stated that he was just as clueless about his involvement in the continuation of the franchise as anyone outside the Marvel Company.

'The minds of Marvel are sometimes opaque,' says Norton.  'I won’t say they're obtuse, but I don’t have any idea what they want to do.'

And then there is the question of  ‘The Avengers’.  If Marvel’s big team movie goes ahead, it is expected to include The Hulk, Iron Man, and Captain America amongst other Marvel characters.  However, any attempts to dispell rumours of Norton’s role as Hulk’s alter –ego Bruce Banner’s appearance in the movie failed miserably, as Norton was just as baffled as the rest of us.

‘They’ve got this notion of collecting the Marvel characters,’ says Norton.  ‘Who knows where they’ll go?’

Do you think it would be an interesting, or a weird thing to see Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark/Iron Man share the same screen as Edward Norton’s Bruce Banner/Hulk?

The first one really did surprise me as I wasn't expecting it to be that good, so I'm quite sure the second is going to be just as pleasant to watch Smiley  Well, it better be.
46  Movie Moron Forum / Movie News / Did Spielberg steal Hitchcock plot? on: September 09, 2008, 12:20:44 PM

Steven Speilberg is currently caught up in a legal dispute concerning recent flick, Disturbia.

Speilberg along with his company, Dreamworks have been accused of stealing the plot from the Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window.  Disturbia, released in 2007, starred Shia LaBeouf, and focused on a boy under house arrest who spies on his suspicious neighbours.

The estate of the late film producer, Sheldon Abend, who owned the rights to Rear Window, is seeking damages on the basis that the plot of Rear Window, and that of Disburbia are ‘essentially the same’, and the main character in both films behave in similar ways.

Mr Spielberg’s representatives are refusing to comment further while the case is still pending.

Has anyone seen both movies?  Can you tell the similarities between the two?

I don't know who these 'sources' are, but the journalist who believed that was a very silly person indeed.

51  Movie Moron Forum / Movie News / F**k DC Comics, says Robert Downey Jr. on: August 26, 2008, 08:00:31 AM

Looks like Robert ‘Iron Man’ Downey Jr was not a fan of a certain comic book film that has probably made more money than his latest franchise.

Whilst promoting new comedy flick, Topic Thunder – where he plays an actor who plays a black solider, Downey Jr made his feelings quite clear on what he thought of The Dark Knight, and DC Comics:

"My whole thing is that that I saw 'The Dark Knight'.  I feel like I'm dumb because I feel like I don't get how many things that are so smart.  It's like a Ferrari engine of storytelling and script writing and I'm like, 'That's not my idea of what I want to see in a movie.' I loved 'The Prestige' but didn't understand 'The Dark Knight'.  Didn't get it, still can't tell you what happened in the movie, what happened to the character and in the end they need him to be a bad guy. I'm like, 'I get it. This is so high brow and so f**king smart, I clearly need a college education to understand this movie.'  You know what?  F**k DC comics. That's all I have to say and that's where I'm really coming from."

Oh dear.

Let’s hope that Downey Jr will not be any DC Comic adaptations in the near future.

52  Movie Moron Forum / TV / Doctor Who For The Big Screen? on: August 26, 2008, 07:31:06 AM

The King of the comeback TV shows, Doctor Who may have conquered the small screen, but could it be set to conquer the big screen too?  New man at the helm and main screenwriter, Stephen Moffat told reporters at the Edinburgh TV festival, where Doctor Who was awarded with a gong, that the Saturday night show could be turned into a movie, as long as the project was handled with care.

"It would be good to see it in the cinema so long as it is great and fantastic… so long as it never gets in the way of the TV show.  If it got in the way of the show that would be appalling."

The show’s recent success and new found popularity could be reason enough for the BBC to push an idea like this forward, but as this is only rumour, no more can be said until an official statement is made.  So watch this space!

Would you like to see David Tennant waving his sonic screwdriver on the big screen?

I always loved this movie for the comedy element they added to it.  So will they be keeping that in the remake version, or are they going to focus on making it actual 'horror' movie?
54  Movie Moron Forum / Movie News / Re: Poster For Dark Knight Sequel on: August 19, 2008, 12:33:47 PM
She was too cool for school, and hot as hell!

They need to bring her back as a villian in her own right without Poison Ivy or the Joker attached to her.
55  Movie Moron Forum / Movie News / Leg warmers at the ready: Fame is learning how to fly again. on: August 19, 2008, 12:31:32 PM

The recent trend of dance related movies and eighties throwback fashion has prompted the possible remake of leg warmer fest, Fame.  Empire Online has reported that Lakeshore Entertainment are ready and raring to go on the modern day fairytale set in the New York City High School for Performing Acts.

Lakeshore President and Producer, Gary Lucchessi stated that the remake will being filming in November on a $25-30 million budget in New York and LA.  It is assumed that unknown dancers will be cast in the roles for them to claim their fifteen minutes of Fame (see what I did there??) then disappear into obscurity – just like the last lot in the original film.

Fame revisited is appearing close on the heels of the recent influx of dance films including Save the Last Dance, You Got Served, and the more recent, Step Up 2 the Streets.  But hopefully it will break tradition, and actually be good.

He may be walking away from the Edwin A. Salt project, but Tom Cruise could now be turning his attention towards another comic book adaptation.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, DC comic Sleeper looks set to be made into a quite possible Warner Bros. franchise with Sam Raimi at the production helm.

Raimi along with Star Road Entertainment partner, Josh Donen are said to be co-producing the movie if it get s the green light from Warner Bros.  It has not been confirmed whether Cruise will be starring in the lead role.

I think it would be pretty silly to carry on a vision that's not your own.  So good on Del Toro!  Can't wait to see what he comes up with.  Although I am still gutted Peter Jackson is not the one spear heading this project.
