A couple of years back, you may remember, there was uproar throughout the movie community as noted director Robert Rodriguez decided to quit the Director's Guild of America because he wanted to credit Frank Miller as co-director on the movie adaptation of Sin City, a comic Miller wrote and illustrated, but the guild wouldn't allow it. Fast forward to the present, and now Miller is himself adapting a comic for the screen, this time it is Will Eisner's 'The Spirit'.

The reason I am bringing this up is that two new posters have been released for the film, and frankly, I think they look awesome. One shows Gabriel Macht as the spirit, tie flapping in the wind, being riddled with bullets from two pistols in the foreground. The other shows the reverse angle, from which you can see that the pistols belong to Samuel L. Jackson who is playing the villain of the piece; The Octopus.

Check the posters out below.

The only worry I have is that Frank Miller is a completely unknown quantity when it comes to directing. I have loved everything else he has been involved with, Sin City was great, I loved 300 (an adaptation of a Miller work) and his graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns is one of my favorites but does this mean he will be competent when it comes to adapting someone else's material (that he may be less familiar with than his own work) and directing it for the big screen (something he has never done before).

One thing is for sure though; The Spirit is going to be ultra-stylized and off-beat enough to definitely be worth seeking out.

You can see the trailer here.

These movie posters are inspired.

I have a feeling this will be like A Scanner Darkly ... incredible adaptation ... not the best flick.

I still think Jackson is rubbish 90% of the time.

I certainly wouldn't want to face his power.

I hope those shafts of light in the first poster don't represent holes in the plot.

This moviw will be anawesome film!

If you liked Sin City then this will defintely tie you over till Sin City 2 hits the Streets, if you have seen the teaser trailer then you will know that is looks like how Sin City was portrayed.  The cast for this film is great, Gabriel Macht, Sammuel L Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes, Jamie King, the list goes on.  The film has a classic theme, Good vs Evil, Cops vs Bad Guys, But Will Eisner has a brilliant mind so there is alot of intelect put into the story, I am super siked for this film and I advise everyone to see it in the big screen!
