Like any red blooded male brought up in the 80s or 90s, I was obsessed with getting my hands on the nastiest horror/slasher films I could find, mostly just because I knew they were forbidden and I wanted to see what I was missing out on. As a result, I now have a healthy appreciation for the b-movie slasher/gore horror subgenre, of which one of the most successful franchises are the Friday the 13th films. The latest film in the franchise, instead of opting to continue the story of supernatural psychotic killer Jason Vorhees, is going back to basics and remaking the first film in the series.
The remake is being produced my Michael Bay and Directed by Marcus Nispel, the team behind the recent Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, a film that I admit I have never seen, but I haven't heard good things...
HorrorBid have revealed a plethora of new photographs from the set of the remake, including many of Vorhees without his trademarked hockey mask (that I have not included here to avoid spoilers). Now, it is unclear as to whether shots of Jason without his mask will be included in the final cut but it is worrying to see. There is a lot of love for the vorhees character in the horror community and one of the running gags of the series is that he never reveals his face, if the producers are willing to throw away that characteristic, one wonders what else they will decide needs changing.
