What Are The Biggest Cliches In Horror Movies?

I'm writing a horror script that is very fast paced with minimal dialog, and EVERY act begins with the cell phone being broken, lost, or locked away out of sight ... otherwise the victims would call the cops instantly and they'd swarm the neighborhood. It's really quite a pain in the ass.

Phones have ruined the horror genre (unless you embrace it like Scream).  But those damn cats!

Back in the old days they didn't have to worry about cell phones, but now they have to devote at least 2 minutes in every horror movie just to explain why it can't be used. Someone should compile a video of all the "my cell phone doesn't have reception" moments in horror films.
