It looks like the future of the fifth Lethal Weapon instalment is as bleak as the current state of our economy.
It was only a few weeks ago that rumours of a Lethal Weapon 5 being cooked up by producer Joel Silver and screenwriter extraordinaire Shane Black began to surface and spread like a wild forest fire. But alas, those flames where doused by director, Richard Donner, who described the project as being ‘dead in the water’ due to ‘Lethal’ star Mel Gibson’s decision to not take part.
Donnor, who directed and produced the Lethal Weapon series, told the Los Angeles Times that ‘Mel turned it down.
‘I would like to think that Mel turned it down because I wasn't involved. Knowing Mel, I would like to think that. Would that be the kind of thing he does? It sure would be.’
With Donnor and Gibson out, looks very unlikely that a fifth helping of the buddy cop saga is going to surface.
