Bond says “no” to Thor.

It seems that the sudden influx of hero roles are heading down latest James Boon incarnation, Daniel Craig's way thick and fast.

The 007 actor has reportedly laughed off the idea of taking on the lead role in Marvel’s adaptation of Thor. 

Craig who will soon be gracing our screens in the latest Bond movie, Quantum of Solace on the 31st of October, revealed to IESB.net that he was approached by Marvel to play the title character in the movie, but he turned the role down, confessing that struggled to see himself with long hair whilst wielding a giant hammer, and the role would have been “too much of a power trip”.  Since when did that stop most actors?

The story will focus on Donald Blake; a disabled medical student who, when he touches the hammer Mjolnir, is transported into the void where Thor – God of thunder – now lives, convincing Thor to wield the hammer once more, and return to Earth.

British director, Kenneth Branagh is in negotiations to wield the hammer on the Marvel Studios’ movie, according to Variety.

Thor is set to be released in June, 2010.
