Gerard Damiano, the man behind the infamous 1970s pornographic movie Deep Throat, has died in Miami aged 80.
Starring the late Linda Lovelace, the movie was shot in six days costing £25,000 to make. It was the first porno movie to be distributed widely in cinemas in the 1970s, and was very well known for its graphic sex scenes.
Director Damiano died in hospital after suffering a stroke in September.
Gerard Damiano Jr. paid tribute to his father: "He was a film-maker and an artist and we thought of him as such.
"Even though we weren't allowed to see his movies, we knew he was a moviemaker and we were proud of that."
Deep Throat made and estimated £382m ($600m) at the box office. Lovelace would later claim that she was forced into appearing in the movie by her then husband and manager, Chuck Traynor. Traynor has always denied the allegations.
The film’s title - meaning fellatio for our innocent readers – was also used as the assumed name for the secret source who passed on information to the Washington Post about the infamous Watergate scandal (little trivia for ya there).
