Ridley Scott negotiates his latest contract.

If you long for the countless hours of riotous excitement you spent in childhood, hunched over the Monopoly board on your coffee table, then look no further than your local theater.

The long gestating film version has been given a director: Ridley Scott.

Good God, what have I become?

Famous for his visionary science fiction in the 70s and 80s, Scott has lately turned to realistic dramas American Gangster, G.I. Jane, and Body of Lies. Scott plans to give a futuristic look to the film, reminiscent of his opus Blade Runner.

Put the top hat on Boardwalk and nobody gets hurt.

Scripted by Pamela Pettier, who gave us the deeply flawed Monster House and the wincingly awful Corpse Bride, this film is shaping up to be a bizarre project that will hopefully be more exciting than its inspiration.

Agreed. Right now I'm more interested to know the plot for this than Transformers 2 or Terminator Salvation.

I bet the plot of Transformers two is that they find out the glasses were actually bifocals, and therefore TWO megatrons actually lay dormant in the earth. Chaos ensues.

I just say that Chris Nolan's brother wrote the screenplay for Terminator Salvation. That makes me very very happy. I hope there's a scene where they the Terminators as cell towers and echo locate the position of john connor.

What gets me about Monopoly is that it's just a SETTING. There is no story, and you can't really build a vidual theme off the game ... so what the hell is the point? It's just ... God, I have no idea.
