Oh I love the 1980's.  And while there's nothing better than a good ole' classic I still have a soft spot for cheesy, low budget '80's gore.
Bring it on...

10. CHOPPING MALL (1986)

9. SAVAGE STREETS (1984)

8. CANNIBALS IN THE STREETS (1980)

7. GOREMET ZOMBIE CHEF FROM HELL (1987)

6. NIGHT OF THE CREEPS (1986)

5. HOLLYWOOD CHAINSAW HOOKERS (1988)

4. SURF NAZIS MUST DIE (1987)

3. STUDENT BODIES (1981)

2. PRISON (1988)

1. STREET TRASH (1987)

Where's Tyler Lovemark? I'm amazed he hasn't commented on this yet.

I found most of the posters online, though sometook a little bit of time as they're almost non-existent now.  But Street Trash win hands down, so outrageous and cheesy but it almost revels in it.  I saw Savage Streets at a small horror convention in July, out of the 50 people there only two of us were enjoying it, but oh was it 0's cheese at its best.  If you like this era and have a soft spot for the tacky side of the genre then you'll definitely enjoy some of them.

I also liked some of the cheesy names that filmmakers came out with.  It seemed that they were more imaginative back then -

Class of Nuke 'em High
Mountaintop Hotel Massacre
Humanoids from the Deep
Slumber Party Massacre

I'd love to have the job of naming those movies, it'd be so much fun, just stick some random words together -

Vegetarian Cannibals in New York
The Revenge of the Mutant Killer Cockroaches from Hell

Watching C.H.U.D. at the moment, it's kinda fun.  Unfortunately many people take horror way too seriously.  I think if it's entertaining that's good enough for me, it doesn't have to be high art!

This is quite the list.  I've seen bits and pieces of Chopping Mall, mainly flipping through the channels.  Unfortunately I've never stuck around on it, but I am quite familiar with the scene where some blonde chick gets her head blown off by a robot.  At least I think that's from Chopping Mall.

Student Bodies is a pretty good one.  The deaths in that one were absolutely hysterical.  I absolutely could not believe the one with the horse-head bookend.  The death counter was a nice touch as well.

I've seen the trailer for the Surf Nazis Must Die.  Haven't seen it, but I'm sure my roommate has it somewhere, he has a fair Troma collection going.

And I'm vaguely familiar with Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers.  As in, I've seen it on the shelf at a hole-in-the-wall rental store, but haven't checked it out yet.  I am so going to have to find some of these, the poster work alone is enough to warrant further investigation.

This is one you must see, it's called Alone in the Dark, from 1982, and stars Donald Pleasence, Martin Landau, Jack Palance and Dwight (Murdock from A Team) Schultz.  Awesome movie -

Yeah I've heard great things about Alone In The Dark (not the Uwe Boll film). I must track that bugger down.

Dude these movies seem awesome! That Alone in the Dark trailer was out of control, I love Donald Pleasence! I cant believe he chopped that guy's you know what off. I got to see that movie!

I've seen Slumber Party Massacre before when I was younger, it was weird.
I've seen C.H.U.D. too, I really didnt like that one too much, did you know that there is a sequel?
Now Puppetmaster is a badass film, I like the first 3! They are classics in my books, I grew up watching those movies!
I have seen Dolls too when I was a kid and I remember it scared the crap ou of my little sister!

But I got to look into some of these movies, they look like fun!

Thanks for the recommendations, keep them coming! post trailers!

Why does a tabloid-style pun title make a B-Movie so much more appealing? Why am I so easily manipulated?

I saw it in a dingy cinema a few months back at the smallest horror festival I've ever been to.  It was the original print, which had trailers for films like C.H.U.D. and ones I'd never even heard of.  Thought it was cool this reel had been doing the rounds for over twenty years.  I guess it was the kind of look Grindhouse aimed for but you can't beat the real thing
