Sherlock Holmes Villain Details

IGN UK got a chance to talk to British actor Mark Strong about the villain(s) in Warner Bros. Pictures' upcoming Sherlock Holmes.

Strong said that Holmes' arch-nemesis Moriarty is in the film, "but you don't really see him. I think he's there because if the franchise carries on, there's a possibility that he will appear in a larger guise.

"But for the purposes of this one and the detective narrative, I'm the guy that Sherlock's after, Lord Blackwood. And he's a cultist/Satanist lord who is the ultimate cad."

Directed by Guy Ritchie, the thriller stars Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law and Rachel McAdams. It opens on November 20, 2009.

Personally I cannot wait for this movie to comeout!!! I love Guy Ritchie's films, and think he has an excellent cast lined up for this film!

It has potential, but I'm iffy on it. It'll all come down to whether or not it's a good mystery story and what tone it has.

Yeah I am very intrested in what Ritchie will do for Sherlock Holmes! But Sheridan I know that you are not a Ritchie fan, but did you ever see RocknRolla? I think that you will like it, and after seeing that film I am more intriuged for his next film1

I've only ever seen Lock Stock and Snatch and I liked both of those movies. I heard terrible things about Swept Away and Revolver though. I think he does well in his comfort zone, but this is well outside it and that makes me nervous.

Yeah i understand 4sure! I never saw Swept Away, but the trailer doesnt intrest me at all, but I defintley liked Revolver! Give it a shot! But RocknRolla was a nice return to the Ritchie everyone likes!

I like his first two flicks, though they're so similar I get them confused. I'm open to this project but dubious - Downey Jr. is a fine actor but his strengths are the exact opposite tools needed to portray Holmes as written in the books, so this "reimagining" might be quite drastic. Still, I've only glanced at the source material, so I don't care much.

Yeah I dont see Robert Downy Jr as Sherlock Holmes, I am curious to see what comes of this.
