Yep, you read it right, praise be, thank whatever Lord you look to or just thank the Good Gods of Common Sense but those fellas over at Empire had a chinwag with Producer Brad Fuller who had this to say:
“Near Dark is probably not going to happen,” he confirmed, talking exclusively to Empire. “I think that Twilight was the same type of thing we were going for although Near Dark was a much darker, sexier, rated R version of that. But I’m concerned that, conceptually, that Near Dark and Twilight are too similar in terms of a vampire movie. For now, that movie is on hold.”
Now this makes no sense to me at all, yes I'm glad it's not being remade but this reason just doesn't wash, i mean , if anything this would be the exact reason to MAKE it!.
Twilight was yet another romanticised teen vampire flick, Near Dark is exactly was Fuller says so this should've been covered in the light of greeness as soon as the BO numbers came in, still, I'm not going to shout too loud as Near Dark should be left well alone.
