After some um-ing and aw-ing it seems that Rob Zombie will be sitting in the directors chair for the currently in production sequel to his 2007 reboot of the Halloween franchise. The movie will be called 'H2' and Zombie has talked to Variety about the upcoming production. The new film picks up right as the first remake ended, following the aftermath of Michael Myers' murderous rampage through the eyes of the sister he hunted.
Zombie said it won't resemble the original second installment, as the "House of 1000 Corpses" helmer continues to take the franchise in different directions...
..."I was so burned out. (But) I took a long break, made a record and I got excited again," Zombie said. "Now, we'll be hauling ass, and that's the problem making a movie called 'Halloween': If you come out Nov. 1 or after, nobody cares. If it was called anything else, I'd be fine." I quite enjoyed the Halloween reboot, perhaps because I have never been a massive fan of the original film. It took the basic idea of Michael Myers that kick-started the slasher sub-genre and brought it right up to date with the current generation of slashers whilst also injecting some good old-fashioned grindhouse cheese. I understand that a lot (and I mean a lot) of people hated it though, so while I am happy that Zombie is directing this film (I have enjoyed all his films so far) I can see that many would like to see a different director take a crack at these characters. I have always been a huge fan of the Halloween installments since I was like 5. i really enjoyed Zombies reboot and am excited to see his sequel to it. the very first two Halloween flicks are my favorite, so I am eager to see what will come of it.
and to answer you question Sheridan, I would like to see a sequel to The Omen reboot.

Errmm... hmmm... not sure. Makes me laugh that they call them 'reboots' and 'reimaginings' as 'remakes' have had such negative feedback. Still the same thing though. Best sequel to a remake though. Fly II maybe? Or do you mean a recent one? If not, technically Bride of Frankenstein is a sequel to a remake. Or Dracula Prince of Darkness

Oh no, doesn't have to be recent. I'm just stumped for an answer. I've never seen Bride Of Frankenstein or Dracula Prince Of Darkness. The Dark Knight is a sequel to a remake. Any more?

Tough question, there, Sheridan. Whether the recent reboots have been good or bad, the sequels have turned out to be pretty damn awful -- TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE BEGINNING, THE HILLS HAVE EYES 2. But if you wanna get technical THE INCREDIBLE HULK (a kinda rebooted sequel hybrid) was pretty nifty and almost made my top ten list.

That's a tricky one. A decent remake is difficult enough, following it up with something better is even harder

Truth be told T. Ross I pretty much hate anything involving Michael Bay; whether its the films he (allegedly) directs or the onslaught of glossed up, hollowed out horror remakes his production company is currently on overdrive processing. I'll spare you my usual rant except to say that I love mindless entertainment as much as the next moviegoer but Bay doesn't give two shits about his audience by throwing out any sense of plotting, logic or characters (although he's never met a racial stereotype he didn't like) just so long as he paints a pretty picture. And even this wouldn't bother me if he wasn't editing his movie in a blender so that every action sequence is frustratingly incoherent.
In regards to HILLS 2, I think most people expected what I did upon hearing a group of soldiers wandering into the domain of the mutants -- ALIENS. These soldiers should have been a group of badasses who find themselves in a whole new world of hurt. Instead we got a bunch of annoying, whiny reserves who may as well have been a group of "mentally challenged" sorority sisters for the zero effort they put into their own survival.

So i take it that you dont like Platinum Dunes? Ha I am just playin, well thats ok, I understand. I on the other hand am I huge fan of that production company, I have looked alot into them. I am going to have to disagree with you that they (Fueller and Form) including Bay dont give a shit about the movies they produce. Thety really do, they have a deep passion for these movies they create. They use original producers, cinematographers, alot of original people who worked on the first films. saying that Bay doesnt give a two shits about his audience is pretty strong. The people he hires to write the screenplays are very talented people who have great respect for the orignal films they are reimaging. I do agree with you that there company is on an overide process, they do have alot on there plate right now, but at the same time they arent rushing anything. They are taking there time with each project. I am looking forward to there next releases, The Unborn, Friday The 13th and The Horsemen, which I believe The Horsemen is going to shock alot of people! Well Thanks for your input Angel Orona I always like to chat with someone on subjects like this!

Any time, T. Ross . . . Oh and for the record I'm actually very much looking forward to THE UNBORN myself as it comes from one of my own screenwriting heroes -- David Goyer.
