My expectations were REALLY low and I ended up liking some parts of it a lot. If you go in with Dark Knight level expectations you'll walk out cursing the world.

Oh, and for the record, Anne Hathaway is brilliant but completely underused. Whole movie should have been about her and batman.

Saw it. I liked it. Thought it handled multiple characters well. Batman is off screen for a long time but it didn't bother me personally. There were definitely a lot of clunky moments, some of which just needed another take, other times it's that old problem of villains keeping characters alive for no reason (Lucius Fox anyone?). I think where it maybe lost its way is summed up in the final image, where the Batcopter is carrying a nuclear bomb over the ocean - mission for realism/grounding in reality: failed. Thought the twists at the end were fine, clever switch with the gender of the child in the flashback. It was much better handled than I assumed it would be.

PS I really liked JGL in that role. Can't quite explain why. Just the earnest way the character was done and the casting.

Reasonableness.

I already read the /Film thing, it's 80% utter crap, and none of the complaints that were actually valid prevented the staff from enjoying the movie. I'd link to things praising the movie, but it'd take too long. There's some balanced criticism in the ComicsAlliance responses to the movie.

I don't have a cleeear favourite. There are pros and cons to all. But if you put a gun to my head:

Passell
BB > DK > DKR > BR > B > BF > B&R

I think Nolan gets far too much credit for the politics he 'intentionally' put in his films. Heath Ledger was a terrorist, the poster was the Twin Towers, Batman wanted too much personal invasion/surveillance to find him with the sonar thing. That's it for intentional. This time it's upsetting the established order might be satisfying, but you wouldn't like the results. Catwoman goes through this arc. Basically megarich Chris Nolan feeling slightly uneasy about the 99%. I didn't read the Badass piece yet so I don't know if it said the same.

Allegedly Scarecrow's court was originally Joker's court. Which honestly makes less sense to me.

I said that in the post. Those scenes had a certain Mad Hatter vibe to them, personally I could see the Joker doing it. But to play such a small role would have sat awkwardly.

That and doing someone else's bidding seems a bit weird.

Our Idiot Brother - Paul Rudd makes the movie, but MAN it needed to lighten up. Way too indie-darling drama. Needed a lot more ad-libbed irreverence.

If you ever come across anyone who says the TDK trilogy "isn't like the comics":
