It's been a while since Resident Evil: Extinction came out, but I was wondering what you thought about it.
I thought it was alright except for the part where they left out why Las Vegas was taken over by vampiric mindless zombies. I would've loved to see how it went from the top 10 places in the world to becoming nothing but sand and covered by zombies.

Personally I haven't seen it (so this is a useless reply already) but the second outing was SO dire it really put me off proceeding. The thing that’s most annoying about the series is that it really does have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the game. And for no good reason. How did we reach a point where some super human called Alice is drop kicking zombies, Matrix-style, in the desert? Where's that come from?? Why is it better than following the mythology and settings of the game? I would have loved to have seen George Romero direct the first one, as was the plan for a long time. …Although having said that, his trailer for the Resident Evil 2 game was fucking dire -

That’s Brad Renfro, isn’t it?

Thats what I figured while watching the Resident Evil series that Milla Jovovich produced. It seems like it's going a tad off the story line from the original game series. I guess it's hard to find actors and actress's with the exact looks as the original characters. I have no idea where a super human matrix style female called Alice comes from except named Milla Jovovich. I mean what are you really going to do about it? Other than complain about the pro's and con's of these movies.

I am a game fan. I adore the Resi games.

The films are a blasphemy. They penetrate the soul of the games and violate them in such a way that only PAUL CUNTING W.S. CUNTING ANDERSON can. It's like finding your mother being anally raped by a rhino - he's not being gentle, no matter what noise you make.

Extinction is mildly better than Apocalypse. But then Apocalypse made me want to tear my own fucking eyes out and eat them because then I wouldn't have to see the SHITE that was Nemesis. He wasn't Nemesis. He was a twat in a suit. A bad suit. A PAUL WS ANDERSON SUIT.

the only thing that saved Extinction from the same fate was that it was so far fucking removed from the games that the only things it had in common were "Umbrella", "Wesker", "Claire Redfield" and "Carlos". The rest of the movie was a sub-par attempt to clone "Day of the Dead" (RIGHT DOWN TO THE FUCKING TRAINED ZOMBIE) with bits of "Alien", "Cube" and "The Birds" hacked in like he thought he could do them better.

GOD I FUCKING HATE PAUL WS ANDERSON.

Yeah we pretty much could already tell that "They were going to die". Actually I was watching Dawn of the Dead last night it's an alright movie for a duplication of any other movie with flesh eating zombies in it. Hm, I thought the the beginning of Resident Evil wanted me to kill myself it was so boring however it did go along with the actual series rather than Apocolypse or Extinction. *laughs* I'm sure Hellraiser could do better than what you listed above and still get away with it along with Wishmaster.

The first one was kinda fun, but silly. The second one was jaw droppingly awful. Wouldn't go near the third.

I had hopes that Silent Hill would  make it all better but the word on the street was that it sucked. Did anyone see it?

The atmosphere, and cinematography, in Silent Hill is fantastic, and Radha Mitchell is good. The problem lies entirely with Roger Avary whose script is a lazy effort with an awful final act.

If you liked the games, see it. If you never played the games, miss it.

*puts fingers in ears and utters incomprehensible noises*

No no no no no

Radha Mitchell is terrible in every single thing she has ever been in.  In fact, she is probably terrible at everything she does, she probably couldn't tie her shoelaces if her life depended on it.

When I saw her in Man on Fire opposite the mighty Denzel I thought I was watching an episode of the Twilight Zone, you know, something along the lines of the great ventriloquist trying to get the most out of his evil dummy.  Now, I am not saying Radha is evil, but her acting will certainly not be found in heaven!

Despite Radha Mitchell's horrible performance, Silent Hill is worth watching.  It is not the adaptation I was hoping for, but it is decent for what it is.  The Silent Hill film manages to be genuinely creepy and that is an achievement in itself because it is something which is lacking in most other horror films these days.

Extinction, I saw it knowing it was going to be bad, but about halfway through the movie I knew this was the worst movie I've seen  in theaters since M. Night Shyamalan's "The Village".  This is the worst movie I've ever had the displeasure of seeing in theater.

*SPOILER WARNING*

Superpowers!  That's right, she's an X-man!  Good thing too, because the movie was starting to get kinda cool when these crows started to attack the people, but luckily Jean Gray made a cameo and re-established that this movie is actually really really awful.

Anyways, I remember being so excited to see the first Resident Evil film believing it would have been somewhat like the original games cut scenes.

I love their reactions shots to finding the downed helicopter. I thought Barry stroking his beard in confusion couldn't be topped for overacting, but then it gets to Chris on the end - masterful.

Has anyone actually read the George A. Romero script circulating online for his take on Resident Evil as a film? I have. Grin

I would say about 50% of it is true to the original game. From what I can remember, Chris Redfield is not STARS but a farm hand (i think) and he's bangin Jill "The Master of Unlocking... (belt buckles?)" Valentine. Also there a bunch of new characters not from the game to act as zombie/monster/tyrant fodder... Still would've loved to seen it for the giant snake and giant plant part of the game.

However, Milla Jovovich = extreme hotness...

I thought we banned the use of "he who's name shall not be spoken for fucking up Resident Evil the film"?

Plus, I swear that's Iceman from Top Gun as the head of STARS

So...am I the only person here who actually enjoyed Resident Evil and Resident Evil Apocalypse

I have yet to see Extinction, but if it is anything like the first two I think I will like it just fine.

I heard someone describe it as "Mad Max with zombies"<---That sounds like a pretty good film to me!

I don't really care that the films have little in common with the videogame, I enjoy the videogames as videogames, and I enjoy the films as films, I don't see any problem with that.

I saw and loved all the Resident Evil movies. My only gripe is the way the boss was killed in the  last movie. It was an easy way out.

The main problem with the "Resident Evil" movies is that they... uh, what's the word? Suck.

There's nothing in common with the games - a couple of small visual references here and there but nothing worth calling itself "Resident Evil".

And, yes, I'd rather watch the Resi 2 trailer on loop than these films.

Rule number one:

"We're making a movie based on a successful series of scary survival horror games. I know, let's turn them into action films and give the protagonists enough ammo to survive and the ability to do anything with her mind!"

whats with all the hate really the films was not ment to be based on the games they were based on the books. its original name is biohazard meaning that it just doesnt mean its zombies. i was a major fan of the games and major fan of the films and there is no problem in the films. apart from extinction where alice burns the crows i thought that was a bit corney.

Though disappointed that the movies did not feel as great as the games...the third installment of Resident Evil I felt was adequate. It was filled to the brim with cliche, but the mindless action kept me entertained in the moment.

As for the guy talking about books ad there being more than zombies...indeed the games are not just zombies and there are all types of biological freaks that the scientist whipped up.
