Universal announced today that they are to make a prequel to John Carpenter's The Thing. This will take us back to the Norwegian rsearch team and how they discovered and freed the thing in the first place.

This is going to be written by Battlestar Galactica's Ronald D. Moore, who has put finger to PC on various Star Trek TV eps and Roswell so i guess that's the Sci-Fi part covered but where is he on the, you know, HORROR part?, so already i'm lacking any kind of faith in this being good. When you add in that taking the helm is Matthijs Van Heijningen, uhuh, i have no idea who he is either, this really doesn't give you a lot of confidence in the project.

Moore scripted one good Star Trek film and one GREAT Star Trek film, plus Battlestar is genius.

Still, this is a whole different breed of sci-fi, so we'll see.

One might say the movie is being met with a cold reception...

One might say that Tyler is asking for a beating, with comments like that.

That one made me fall off and break the wooden toilet I was sitting on.

Anyone know where I can find a john carpenter?

If they're going to go back and revisit The Thing's territory then they could do a lot worse than make a movie of the old XBox game, which was a pretty good effort at bringing in the scares and keeping the feel of the Carpenters film.

This never happened. Neither did my fit of laughter so hard I hurt my back.

If anyone knows another route to a John Carpenter pun I am all for it.

And yes, I do live in a dungeon. With cable.
