I've become more and more interested in box office results. They tell you whether you're likely to get sequels to your favourite movies, or whether a particular sub genre is about to be flooded with copycats.

But here are the weekend's results for the rest of the world. What flies in America isn't neccessarily liked elsewhere, and vice versa.

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/intl/weekend/?yr=2009&wk=5&p=.htm

You can see here what a massive star Jim Carrey still is worldwide ($100m for Yes Man) and what a star Seth Rogen isn't ($14m for Pineapple Express).

No one cares about Hannah Montana ($5m), 'W.' is a horrible bomb ($3m), Punisher even worse ($1m), and T.Ross's favourite movie Black Christmas is still on release in a couple of territories.

Check out Mamma Mia's numbers. And how well John Woo's Red Cliff: Part I has done.

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa made almost the same amount as The Dark Knight.

What? Other people in other countries what that? They must be super bored!

How much did RocknRolla rake in?

Its worldwide total is $18m, not including the US. I bet 99% of that came from the UK. It's probably made enough to financially justify the trilogy they were discussing.

Black Xmas or Rocknrolla?    They both looked like crap but I hear they're both good.

I got to meet the director of Black Christmas and the Willard remake. Totally meek, pudgy guy. Not at ALL what you'd expect.

I was referring to RockNRolla which is aimed strongly at a UK wannabe-gangster audience.

I really liked Willard actually, it felt more like a remake of Psycho than the remake of Psycho did. It might be Crispin Glover's best role. Shame it flopped.

A few years back I was alone, between roommates, in a shitty apartment in LA. I got sick on the last day of a film shoot, one week before memorial day. I stopped by the store, got meds, water, and enough veggies to make a giant pot of soup to last the week and locked myself in.

I got SO sick. Like, dangerous sick. And no one knew it. I just disappeared for a week.

I had a stack of movies to get me through the times I was coherent.

On the last night,  I watched Willard. The night my fever broke, and though I barely remember the movie, I remember the vivid, terrifying fever dreams about Crispin Glover chasing me around with giant rats. One of the creepiest, most bizarre movie-watching experiences of my life.
