I've just ordered the graphic novels of Watchmen and League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen. My lifelong journey to being a total nerd is complete.

Ah, League of Extraordinary Gentleman. Wait til one of the main characters is raped to death ... always a fun time.

Don't look at us U.S.ers Sheridan, he's YOUR countryman. We just publish him.

Hold up your journey is not done yet, have you picked up the graphic novel of Freddy vs Jason vs Ash?? i just got mine the other day at Barnes and Nobles. it was a six part comic book series, but now you can buy it in one graphic book. It picks up from where Freddy vs Jason ended.

Interesting. When I get through this lot I might give it a whirl.

Anyone got any more graphic novel recommendations? I'm new to all this.

I also grabbed a couple of Batmans - Long Halloween (where a fair amount of The Dark Knight came from) and Hush.

Freddy vs Jason vs Ash is the first one I ever read. I have always wanted to checkout the Sin City novels.

Y: the last man
You can get this in ten volumes ... it's this fun, silly ride but as it goes along it gets more serious. Until the last issue, which is so powerful it took me an entire evening to finish cause I kept crying. One of the most powerful epic endings I've ever read. Brilliant stuff.

I've heard amazing things from my comics buddies about "Scudd the Disposable Assassin," "Omega the Unknown," and "Kick-Ass." I've also heard the comic of "Wanted" is very good. It's not about assassins, it's about a world where comic book villains win the war against super heroes. Apparently brilliant but the movie sucked cause it had NOTHING to do with the comic!

The first volume of Joe Hill's "Locke and Key" is available on Amazon. I LOVE it, it's good old fashioned gothic adventure. Great stuff.

Sheridan, a warning. League and Watchmen are both brilliant in their own way ... but they are also comics that take huge risks with the genre. League in particular is a work of genius because it creates a fantasy world that incorporates every piece of adventure literature ever written and weaves them into a workable timeline. But the story is absolute shit and always has been. So what I'm saying is, if you hate them, don't give up on the genre.

If League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen isn't the best thing I've ever read I will hold you personally responsible.

They arrived this morning. The difference in length between them all is pretty amusing, given they're the same price. The Long Halloween is massive. Hush - tiny.

I'm about 1/4 of the way through Watchmen. It's brilliant. Had I tried to read it a year ago from knowing nothing it would have been hard to understand/get into because they start talking about the history of the Minutemen etc immediately without spelling out what on earth they're on about. However knowing the characters and the historical context as we all do now through the movie marketing, it was fine. (Or at least it has been so far.) T.Ross I definitely recommend you pick it up.

He's not really a hobo. A hobo wouldn't have that many biscuits.
