Filming has now wrapped on Rob Zombies H2, the sequel to his utterly horrible 're-imagining' of John Carpenters classic and so in best interwebbery style he has released the first shot of one of the new looks that Michael Myers will adopt for the movie.

So, its the Shatner mask but burnt a bit, wow how scary. Anyone like this?

Time hasn't changed my feeling on this, the Halloween remake was the worst film I have ever seen.

Not because it was a remake, that's fine by me, but because it was so moronic, boring, and utterly unenjoyable. Even bad films are usually entertaining, but this didn't fit into that category either. I cannot believe ANYBODY likes that film, or that they gave him this sequel. This is the first time in history I absolutely swear to avoiding a film entirely.

I have a major problem with this film because just by that picture alone, it shows that Zombie has no understanding of the character, none, nada, zip, sweet FA. Granted this was obvious from the first installment but Myers is not Jason, he isn't, plain and simple and the fact that this image shows a burnt mask means Zombie has now finally and completely taken a giant shit on the Halloween legacy.
I don;t mind remakes as long as they adhere to the essence of the characters while they're busy updating the rest of the movie but this shows that Zombie didn't get that the mask represented more than just a disguise for Myers, he wasn't hideous like Jason the hillbilly hick, Jason hid his face because he was disgfiured and hid behind if for that, Michael used his mask to scare the shit out of you, no other reason.

I am with Sheridan here, as i wont be going anywhere near this retched film

I'm not defending his movies at all, I've never seen one. In fact, I'm pretty sure the suck factor potential is very high. But how does this picture ruin Michael? Doesn't he reveal his face in the first film and he's totally hideous?

Personally I have no particular problem with the mask (although not being frightening is a drawback) you need to watch the remake Dalmatian to understand why emotions are so high here. Promise me you'll do that.

He does get his mask ripped off in the original dalmatianjaws mate, but he's not hideous and the mask was always more representative of evil rather than just a hokey scare tactic.
It like if you've seen Hannibal Rising, there was no need for that film and it completely undone everything that made Lecter the monster we were all afraid of.

Because of this mask it shows that the intended victims are no longer afraid of Myers, which was probably true when Coolio decided to try Kung Fu on him as well but the remake gave the opportunity to redress the balance and bring Myers back to the Evil because he is character that he started out to be.

Fair enough. Wait ... does Coolio do that in the remake? Cause that sounds like the stuff they resorted to in the last sequel of the original "franchise"

I've got to see this remake, I was honestly hoping it would be better than the original since ... heh ... I really think the first one is dull and unscary. Not a bad movie, just overrated. It does sound like what strengths the originals had (ie the silent killer, moody shots, dehumanized pure evil villain) have been thrown to the wind, which really sucks and shows that he has NO idea what he's doing. At all.

It's like this aspiring "filmmaker" I talked to once, who said "man, in my next film the camera will be moving in every shot, that's what it's about, none of this boring static shit, like, every single shot is gonna be moving."

Nuance is dead.
