Look at those two teddies going at it.
It's from the Grizzly Man documentary. If you look at the 1:10 mark you can see one of them literally shits himself with fear.

It is a Herzog. I've, oddly, forgotten almost everything that happens in it, but I remember liking it. Basically imagine a documentary version of Into The Wild, with bears.

Herzog is king of a manipulative documentarian. Grizzly Man is ... interesting. Check out The Grizzly Man Diaries from Animal Planet. Hours and hours of his footage edited into adocumentary show. The narration all comes from his journals that corresponded with the footage. AMAZING stuff. The guy was nuts on the surface, but survived ten years with those animals and wasn't killed until new ones cames into the area.

Doing a shit DURING a fight. Now that's the kind of villain I can get behind. Although not directly behind.

How about during a bear attack, the bear pulls off someone's trousers and pants in the struggle to get away. The rest of the group are really bothered by the fact the dweeb is now naked from the waist down, but they're in the middle of the woods so there's nothing he can do about it. So when they spot a cabin, they don't get up there looking for help, but looking for a pair of trousers.

I'm wondering if one of the characters should literally tell the story of Deep Blue Sea round the campfire.
- - - I'm also thinking the plot could benefit from some sort of mystery, it's a bit too straight-forward. At the moment it's lab break out, rampage in the woods.
But is it a mystery about the bear, or about one of the characters?
At the very least there should be something that one of the characters won't talk about, or a place he refuses to go / something he refuses to do. - - -
There could be a sequence toward the end where the fat girl of the party finds an oddly deserted house, with a bowl of porridge on the table, she breaks the chair, and falls asleep upstairs. Guess who comes home...

This is quite simply the BEST IDEA.

maybe it's not a simple lab break out/rampage. maybe one of the group facilitated the escape of grizzlepaw, but who? and why? can anyone be trusted not to lead grizzlepaw straight to them??? as an alternative to this, it could be a revenge story. the bear is out to get everyone for killing his family.

i think it would be a good idea to have the film intercut with clips from a survival program, detailing the many ways in which you can survive a bear attack, all of which of course no longer apply because grizzlepaw is super intelligent.
also, the idea i had where grizzlepaw in fact has a human brain, part of a mystery could be whose brain he has...

I'm not so keen on it being a human brain. Seems tonally too over the top.
