Universal have signed the writer for Wanted 2. The replacement for Michael Brandt and Derek Haas is a man named Evan Spiliotopoulos.

Yes. The writer of Pooh's Heffalump Movie is taking on the James McAvoy sequel Wanted 2. I'm still scratching my head over that one. Original director Timur Bekmambetov is still on board, so hopefully we won't see any jars of honey being eaten at any point.

The first was an unmitigated piece of shit. The only movie I've ever seen that says "fuck you" to the audience. Literally. Tried to watch it again last month and couldn't make it through it.  Timur is a genius though, his Nightwatch trilogy is sublime (thus far).

I can't imagine how bad this sequel will be. It makes my soul cry.

I enjoyed the first one, thought it had a lot going for it. I read the graphic novel this week. While the concept of a world where the bad guys have beaten the heroes is great, the comic basically starts well but then fucks it up (going-nowhere-interesting plotting, extremely lame explanations, poorly paced ending). The movie has much better plotting, and a better twist. I'm pretty glad Mark Millar isn't doing Superman after this.

As for this post, a draft of the sequel script was written ages ago by the guys from the first one, guess they must be getting a new draft.
