Well the much anticipated follow up to Jon Favreau's Iron Man is now well under way and the first image has surfaced via Fav's twitter page.

Nothing too revealing but good to see RDJ back looking all serious and you gotta love the range of suit prototypes in the background.

Cool! Here's the info

Quote from:
Exactly as Jon Favreau promised on twitter, the first official photo from Iron Man 2 has been unveiled tonight over at USA Today. Although I wasn't expecting to see much, this is actually an awesome first photo, giving us a big hint that Tony Stark may be building a "Hall of Armor" of Iron Man suits, just like in the comics. But of course, we won't know more details about that or even know how many different suits he has until we get to see Iron Man 2 next summer. "It's never easy with summer movies, but we're trying to keep as much a surprise as possible," Favreau says. Without further ado, check out the first official photo!

Iron Man 2 takes place "six months after Stark revealed his identity as Iron Man" at the end of the first movie. Favreau explains that the story this time will indeed involve a little bit of that public relations crisis. "How many superheroes are open about their true identities?" Favreau asks. "We wanted to play with that idea. But it obviously has consequences — in his relationships, on the team. There are a lot of areas we can explore." As for the villain(s) or how much we'll get to see of S.H.I.E.L.D., Favreau won't be talking about that. But it's good to keep everything so mysterious, right? I know it definitely makes me more excited!

Now you say it, the Mark 1 makes a lot of sense. It even looks like a frame.

Yeah I'm excited about this look, not sure it follows the looks from the comics

More along the lines of the last couple there and at least with the framing on Rourke you can believe that he could actually have these things, will be interesting to see what it evolves into, got to say im still a bit put out that they aren't going for a mask.

that first pic is from the new animated adventures, not the comic...the second two look disturbingly s&m. i think they're going for somewhere between that and crimson dynamo, who has a very different look.

far left is adi granov's interpretation of the crimson dynamo, adi granov is the comic book artist so damn good at drawing iron man that they brought him on to head up the pre-production concept team for movie one

you guys think that photo means the latino review concept art was fake?

I'd put money down that it is Mark 1, so I don't think it's fake just yet. Though the decision to use a young Mickey Rourke head seems odd to me.

The young head was probably more t do with flattering the known to be tetchy Rourke. And agree that it is probably the MK1 suit which is cool but i am gonna still whine at the lack of mask  Wink

But by using the young head, they're basically saying, "you're old and ugly now so here's your better head". I'd be insulted if I was him. ...If it's not fake.

Woh... Spiderwoman comic starts in September?

Yeah, you have to perform a rhyme to get onto a film set. "Whatever you do don't over-react, but I need to get in there, I need to try and act."
