Tom Cruise has been awarded the Courage Prize at Germany's Bambi awards for his role in
Valkyrie.
The Bambis are Germany's most prestigious media awards, recognising achievements in film, television and music.
Ok... First off, I personally haven't heard of anyone winning a bravery award since I was at school. But then, why playing a German who tried to kill evil Hitler and died a hero would be a risk for an actor, I have no idea. If he'd been playing Hitler
then it would have deserved the bravery award.
And this for a film that no one on that panel could have seen yet? What if it's horrible? I mean his lazy American accent in the trailer is horrible... This couldn't possibly be a case of 'Who's the most famous person working in Germany right now that we can come along to boost our ceremony?', could it?
Without a doubt, honouring Tom Cruise for bravery has to be
the most meaningless award ever presented.
Or can any of you think of another one, real or imagined, that would beat it? Who would that go to?
