Despite the commercial disappointmen of The Mist, Frank Darabont is still edging towards a restraining order by taking the chair for yet another Stephen King adaptation - The Long Walk.

This Sci-Fi yarn, written under King's pseudonym Richard Bachman, tells the tale of a futuristic foot race where competitors are shot if they stop walking (sounds like an idea that would spice up the London Marathon), so that the last man walking, wins.

Darabont's next movie is Fahrenheit 451 so The Long Walk is still a way off but if anyone can bring the gritty dark future story to life then, as the most successful King adaptor to date, Darabont's the guy to do it.

I have not read The Long Walk, but from the description you just gave, it sounds about as entertaining as being stuck in a phone booth for just under 90 minutes....which ranks higher than actually watching Phone Booth.

I will wait to see how The Mist turns out and if Darabont does a good job with King's writing I am sure he'll continue to do so.

Having said that, I am not of the opinion that King's book to movie adaptations have been poor, in fact, a few of my favourite films have come from Steven King books - Stand By Me, The Shining, The Shawshank Redemption, Misery.  Needful Things is also a pretty good film, as is Carrie and Christine.
