Catchy, not punny. Gotcha.
I honestly can't think of anythign better than Rise of the Blood Bears ... unless we go with one bear, in which case the misleading title is kind of extra funny.

'DEATH BY BEAR'
'BEAR NIGHTMARE'
'BLOOD PICNIC'
'GRIZZLEPAW' (This could also be the name of the leader of the Bears).
Tagline:
'IF YOU GO DOWN TO THE WOODS TODAY... YOU'RE SURE OF A BEAR-RELATED DEATH'

Listen, I know it was me that just posted it, but I LOVE 'Grizzlepaw' as the name of the king bear.

Agreed, great name for the bear. Not the title though.

okay, watched the trailer for surf nazis must die and that looks all kinds of incredible! i agree that the title is vital (loving the rhyme btw), and have to go on record as being opposed to Rise of the Blood Bears. 'Rise of the...' calls to mind Silver Surfer and Lycans. No no no. And Blood Bears sounds like it might actually be a real kind of bear, or a secret organisation or any number of other things. I thinks it's a little ambiguos and ambiguity is not on the cards, right? we wanna be blatant. i like sheridan's first title, but slightly modified: Super-Intelligent Bears of Death!c'mon guys that screams b-movie and just hearing the title i feel like i've already seen the damn thing. and been blinded by awesome. kudos on grizzlepaw

For me, the key to a great B-movie title is to make sure you don't sound like you're trying too hard. It has to sound like you meant it to be serious, but somewhere along the way it slipped into being an incredible piece of shit on a stick.

'Rise Of The' is a deliberate reference to those movies and it being the laziest Hollywood prefix. It's not set, everyone keep those title suggestions coming.

"okay guys, i rented a couple of movies. we got rise of the lycans, rise of the silver surfer, rise of the machines, or SUPER-INTELLIGENT BEARS OF DEATH! which one do you wanna watch?"
"uhh...the one that you said in all-capitals"
p.s. i totally get the lazy hollywood prefix thing, it's quite smart. maybe it'd work better as a subtitle though...that's what all the other movies with 'rise of the' in are. man, that was some bad english.

Hmm ... I see both sides. Super-Intelligent doesn't exactly roll of the tongue, however.
There aren't a lot of words that convey "smart" in a pithy way.
Smart Genius Intelligent Crafty
... ... ... Not very exciting. Maybe leave "smart" out of the title and leave it for the tagline?
They're clever. They're crafty. They're carnivorous.

I know how to settle this debate in one fell swoop. A colon.
Here - -
'RISE OF THE BLOOD BEARS: DOOMCLAWS BEYOND REASON'
What's after the colon is still up for debate.

sure, there are plenty of synonyms for 'smart', but are any of them truly as hyperbolic as 'super-intelligent'? not to mention it has pretty damn specific connotations. and a title doesn't have to roll off the tongue to kick ass! think the assassination of jesse james by the coward robert ford, or borat: cultural learnings of america for make benefit glorious nation of kazakhstan. it'd get called bears of death for short anyway! doomclaws. excellent.

I've figured out what's bugging me about these. The passive voice. It just sucks for a title most of the time.
"The Taking of Pelham 123"
What shit.
I was thinking about what an awesome title "Surf Nazi's Must Die!" was and realized something. Someting like "Surf Nazi's of Death" is nowhere as strong.
For example, which is better:
"Rise of the Blood Bears" or "Blood Bears Arise!"
The active voice, the command, is so much catchier for this kind of thing.
Here are some things off the top of my head that might spur some creative flow:
Blood Bear Rampage!
Cyber-Bear Manhunt!
Murder-Bear Massacre
Grizzly Bear Bloodfest
Blood Bears Kill All Humans!
Blood Bears Destroy All Picnics!
Picnic Day Massacre: Blood Bears Arise!
