Scrubs star Zach Braff is in negotiations to rewrite, direct and co-star Paramount's forthcoming comedy Swingles. The story centres around a bachelor, or 'swinging single', who is forced to ally himself with a feisty female in order to hit on women when his previous wingman dumps him.
The film would be Braff's second foray into the world of directing features after the cult hit Garden State. Maybe he'll transform the project because right now it sounds alarmingly less intelligent than the kind of project you'd imagine Braff would be interested in. To begin with there's that horrible title. Swingles. It reeks of tabloid neologisms like tweenager. Then there's the core concept. A 'wingman'? And a feisty female? Your cliche-sense is tingling like crazy, right? It sounds like a Matthew McConaughey movie. In fact, McConaughey probably made it already and no one noticed. Except for your sister, who owns the DVD.
Also set to star is Cameron Diaz, fresh off of her turn in the Ashton Kutcher starring What Happens in Vegas. Why does Diaz do this to herself? She's pretty in demand and she's worked with Scorsese, surely she could diversify her choices? And Zach Braff, we though we knew ye.
Well, at least there's the long-awaited Scrubs movie to enjoy. Oh, wait:
