I'm not sure what to make of this trailer. David Mamet (of Glengarry, Glenn Ross and other theatrical critical acclaim) meets Ultimate Fighter with his new film "Red Belt" starring England's own Chiwetel Ejiofor (and I didn't check the spelling on that one). I've always liked "Chewie" (as I like to call Mr. Ejiofor) since "Serenity" and "Dirty Pretty Things", however the prospect of Tim Allen rumoured to be doing some MMA in between that "HUR HUR HUR" laughs, makes me ponder. Have a look and say what you think...

Now, imagine some studio exec somewhere is thinking "What if we combine the craze of MMA and The OC with... THE KARATE KID!!!!". That's when you get this film, "Never Back Down". All you need is Mr. Miyagi... or in this case, Djimon Honsou (another name I didn't check the spelling for)... Hmm, also featuring the music from the WWE Smackdown! show too oddly...

Red Belt is a very badly made trailer. It completely fails to find a hook.

Mamet likes turning comedians serious huh. First Steve Martin, now Tim Allen. When is it Martin Lawrence's turn?

Redbelt was one of my favorites from that year. Awesome, awesome filmmaking.
