Fascinating. Apparently executive producers of the Buffy series, Fran Rubel Kazui and Kaz Kazui, have decided to revive the series in the form of a film reboot. Yes, note 'reboot'. This means without any of the cast who defined the series throughout its seven season run, and apparently it wants 'to go to new places'. They have decided to make this work by essentially 'rewriting' the history of Buffy in the way Star Trek did. The worst part of all this is that this process is reportedly not involving Joss Whedon, the original creator and writer of Buffy who has since become fan royalty.

This is seriously misguided. Not only are they risking annoying legions of fans, and also of sullying the reputation of one of the most beloved series of recent times, this doesn't seem to have Joss Whedon involved. Sure, it says he's not involved 'yet', but I don't honestly see why he would want to be. Plus, is this seriously the best hollywood can do right now? A remake of a series that has barely been off air for 7 years?
Well, I know I certainly won't be there on opening night.
