'Moon' hasn't even had an official release yet and already it is being tipped as one of the best sci-fi films of recent times and if it lives up to the hype, director Duncan Jones' (pictured here with David Bowie for some reason) next project will be just as hotly anticipated. Today it was revealed that his follow-up is going to be based on a novel, based on true events that happened to the crew of US submarine during the second world war.
Ait it cool has the story:
Project is an adaptation of Alex Kershaw's book about the real-life WW2 story of the U.S. Navy submarine USS Tang, which was hit by one of its own torpedoes and sunk to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. The crew members then had to escape from their iron coffin while enemy depth charges were being dropped from above and swim 180 feet to the surface.
The film's current moniker is 'ESCAPE FROM THE DEEP'.
Personally, I am really looking forward to 'Moon', all the buzz about it has been excellent and I have no reason to doubt that it will be brilliant. I also love films like this about true stories of people facing incredible odds and rising to the challenge. All in all, I'm fully on board with this film.
