We’ve barely scratched the surface of this story, but there’s no doubt it’s been making waves. Robert Rodriguez, amongst the other five hundred projects he’s developing, is directing a ‘Predator’ remake for 20th Century Fox. Apparently based on a script for ‘Predator 3’ that Rodriguez was commissioned to write in 1994, ‘Predators’ has no budget or production date as of yet, but Rodriguez is certainly keen to talk about it. The film reboot has been described as involving a group of commandos meeting a ‘mysterious race of vicious monsters’, implying that there is more than one Predator at work in this film. The net has been ablaze with talk of casting, and a recent internet rumour brought up excitable talk of Ahnuld reprising his role of Dutch from the 1986 original. However, talk of this has been played down, since Rodriguez has admitted the new script is still being written, and that the talk of the Governator taking the role of Dutch again is extremely premature given that casting hasn’t even started yet. While it is still very early on in the process, it seems that this may well happen. The last two films featuring predators, of the ‘Alien Vs.’ variety, were a spectacular load of tosh, but Rodriguez has a good eye for this sort of thing, and he and his Troublemaker Studios may well restore the Predator franchises’ reputation. Again, I open this up to the forum for debate.

Rodriguez's definitely the right man for it, though he's only producing, not directing. Does everyone know that Van Damme was the first Predator? - http://www.movie-moron.com/forum/index.php?topic=1605.0

Van Damme was the first predator? This surprises me not.

Oh, you mean he was supposed to be in the costume. How foolish of me.

Hate to stir up the pot here but i think that Rodriguez is a terrible choice to Direct which is why I'm glad he's only got his hands in as a producer. I've enjoyed a couple of things he's done like Desperado and Planet Terror but everything else for me has been over stylized with over complicated plots or characters that speak words rather than sentences that make any sense, he just comes across as desperately trying way too hard to be cool.

Don't worry TwistedMango didn't mean that, he's been drinking on the boards again.

Hahaha if only i had been mate  Grin

Actually I'll go with The Faculty which was a decent High School take on Invasion of the Body Snatchers but Sin City was him licking the boots of Tarrantino's Pulp Fiction combined with the artwork from Millers comic.

Actually don't know if you guys know but its now rumoured that our very own Neil Marshall is as good as shoed in for the megaphone on this now, which, if he's in The Decent/Dog Soldiers form will be cracking, but if he's in Doomsday mode then best straight to DVD i feel.

The Descent has a couple of great cave-in scenes and a great score, but it's hugely over-rated. Doomsday was pants, Dog Soldiers was fun but amateur. I hope Rodriguez is literally sitting on his shoulder while he's making this. It's a weird combo, but it could just work.
