Phantasm II U.S. DVD Release Coming
Source:Video Business June 9, 2009

Looks like Universal is goin' big in the DVD market for the upcoming Halloween season. On September 15th, Universal Home Entertainment is releasing the following:

John Carpenter Master of Fear Collection: Includes The Thing, They Live, Prince of Darkness and Village of the Damned.

Phantasm II: The Tall Man is back with a vengeance!

The Wes Craven Horror Collection: Includes The Serpent and the Rainbow, Shocker and The People Under the Stairs.

The Wolf Man (1941) Special Edition: The original 1941 version of The Wolf Man starring Lon Chaney Jr. is being released as part of the Universal Legacy Series.

This is the first time Don Coscarelli's Phantasm sequel is being made available on DVD in the U.S. And, naturally, Uni is looking to cash in on the November 6th release The Wolfman with their new Legacy edition of the original.

We'll bring you cover art and detailed specs as they comes in.

I've only seen part 2, which was very good. I've bought part 1 I think but not got round to watching it yet (that's quite common, I realised yesterday I still hadn't watched the copy of Fright Night I bought in 2003).

Phantasm 1 is great, II is better, III is very good, IV is REALLY slow. God bless him, but it turns into a Class Reunion rather than having an actual plot. Still has some great moments though. I can't remember how it ends ...

In Phantasm II the actor who plays the main character is MUCH better. The director was friends with the original kid, however, and brought him back for III and IV and he's really pretty bad.

Any word on Phantasm V?
